After the emotions are settled down .. was Cotto the best/hardest PAC's opponent? How does he compares to Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Hatton or DLH?
Cotto belongs at 145 and Marquez doesnt, but he doesnt have the skill of Marquez or Pac would have been out in 3rds. I dont think Cotto has the ferocity and balls to the wall durability of an Erik Morales in Fight 1 or he would have beat Pac by decision. Hatton is inferior in ability to Cotto and DLH quit on his stool and doesnt have the heart of a Cotto
Hardest in terms of the challenge of facing a man who is clearly bigger, stronger, more powerful and also very capable. Skillwise, talent wise.....Nah...he's not a MAB, EM, JMM or DLH. They are far better talents and boxers than Cotto.
Marquez has been Pac's toughest customer. Marquez is a great counterpuncher, and that is a big indicator of his fight with Mayweather, who IMO is the best counterpuncher in the game. You can't afford to brawl with Manny, because you are left open for just long enough to catch one of his odd angled punches. Defense and counterpunching is how you beat Pac. Cotto has terrible defense.
i really dpnt understand why cotto is getting credit for having heart to make it to the 12th against pac bc in the fight i watched all he was doin was running for the last 3 rounds and holding on for dear life, i actualy remember seeing pac giving him these looks like stop being a coward and throw back a little and stop running i see that asa equiavalent to just stopping after the 9th, sorry cotto fans.
First the first half of that fight Cotto was hitting Pac with some great shots. But they didn't even dent Pac. Hard to imagine. Cotto was a very good fighter fighting a guy who is borderline supernatural.
Before the Cotto fight, Pac says the hardest puncher he ever faced was Barrera. Im not sure if he still believes that, but its sort of surprising though considering he beat Mab so easily compared to EM and JMM.
Cotto beats Morales, Barerra, Marquez, Hatton, and De La Hoya circa 2007. Cotto isn't the best boxer Pac has faced, but he is the best Pac has faced.
