What was your reaction following round 1 in which cotto looked very sharp? Personally, I was thinking to myself if boxing had "live odds", this would've gone from Cotto +250 to a pickem fight.
Before the opening bell I thought Pac was going to dance around like he did against De La Hoya. When he came out flat footed and stood in front of Cotto and took those hard jabs, I thought, I guess the road ends here, Pac's getting KOd by the bigger guy because he looks too scared to even throw a punch. Never been so happy to be wrong.
I thought it's only a matter of time til Pac opens up and then we start seeing Cotto run a track meet.
I realized how much HBO loves Miguel Cotto. And I didn't think anything; it was the first round. About round 3, I said..."I told you so."
I bet Cotto KO7, and I said I told you so after the first. I thought Pac took too much pride and should have stayed at 140.
I was amazed that he didn't have a plan B, in case Manny's speed was too much. I still can't believe that a world class fighter would underestimate his opponent to that degree.
My exact thoughts were - Damn! Cotto has regained his form and is fighting exactly how i want him to (not trying to be the bigger guy, not using his size, just using the skills he has, doing offence and then backing off a bit, not being overconfident like i thought he would be, and he later got in round 2) also - I was living it up because i was yelling out on how this (what was happening) had nothing to do with size and that cotto is simply showing his skills here so it has nothing to do with his size. I was so happy yet still very nervous.... but was the happiest ive been in a boxing match for quite awhile. Pac then turned it up, Cotto quit being smart, and the rest is history
