Cotto vs Puerto Rican Legends

No Carlos Ortiz no Benitez no Gomez thats whats wrong with the general forum too many posters not enough knowledge

 

Cotto is a good fighter, but he'll never be a top PR great. Quite a number of PR greats were substantially better.

 

Cotto and PR legends doesn't belong in the same sentence

 

A few more fighters to consider:

-Sixto Escobar, the first ever PR champion, and he became so in one of the richest periods in the Bantamweight division's long history

-Jose Basora, one of the most forgotten of the Puerto Rican greats, despite the fact that his resume is arguably the deepest of the entire lot. One of the top MW contenders during arguably it's deepest ever era.

-Pedro Montanez, another one of the best PR boxers (and best boxers, period) to never win a world title, despite his fantastic resume and top flight ability. Unfortunately, he shared the same fate as Basora in that he fought in one of the deepest ever eras for his weight class.

-Jose Torres, LHW champion of the 70's, and the best PR big man to ever lace em up. R.I.P champ
