Cotto can move around really good. Look at his last two fights. I know that Margarito is no Sturm but they are similar in size.

I honestly think you are underestimating the size here.

Mararito is a lot smaller than sturm, he debued as a lightweight, Sturm has been a middleweight his entire career

    :think
Cotto is just a bit shorter than Khoren Gevor who gave Sturm a though fight and almost got a draw.

I think it´s Sturms guard that would fit perfectly for Cotto and thats why i give him a shot at beating him.
I favor Sturm but will be chanting "WAR Cotto !".

I think Cotto could outbox Felix and keep him from making his size a problem by pivoting and turning Sturm. I don't really think that Sturm is a big puncher but he hits hard enough to keep Cotto honest but I also don't think he can stop Cotto either. In anywhere else but germany Cotto beats Sturm via UD

I didn't say he was a massive puncher, but he has a hard punch at his (natural) weight class. He's a naturally big MW, with exceptional speed, and good stamina (throws 60+ punches every round).

Cotto is a natural welterweight, who really has no business at 154 (which is why he hasn't, or probably won't fight an elite 154 pounder with a good punch).

Khurtsidze is a massively underrated, and unknown entity; he uses his height (lack thereof) to his advantage. It's not just tall boxers who can utilize their height, short boxers can take advantage of their height just as effectively if they know what they're doing, and have molded the appropriate style. He has a very tight guard (better than Cotto's), pretty decent head/upper body mobility/movement, and has pretty quick feet that enable him to get inside, and stay there, where he uses his short arms to turn his hooks, and uppercuts over faster than his opponent.

NOTE: If anybody has not seen N'Dam/Khurtsidze, I'd highly recommend you check it out - full fight is up on youtube.

Pound for pound, Cotto is all around better than Khurtsidze (but I too think Khurt. would beat Cotto), but style-wise, and size-wise (he's short, but stocky, dense, buff, and strong as ****) Khrutsidze has a more effective style to fight a tall, outside boxer/mover like N'Jikam.

Not sure MW would be a good choice for Cotto unless a HUGE payday is involved in the risk.
Only Martinez & Chavez Jr. Could bring in that type of business if Cotto could line that up I say go for it.

Vs. Sturm... Hmmm I'd prob lean towards the bigger fighter.
Tho not a huge puncher (Sturm), This would be By far the biggest punch "He" would have faced.

Cotto should have to win a significant fight at LMW before he's licensed to take a beating at 160

you never know with Sturm, hes punching with authority meanwhile and looks strong but hes just not the smartest fighter and has or nearly has blown so many fights like when Oscar was done and he kept jabbing him or when he was trading with Castillejo or when he started running from Griffin thinking that he had already won the fight. he probably could have stopped Macklin as well had he just turned it up a little earlier.
I guess it would be a similar close fight as the one Clottey. Sturms bigger, has a sharper jab and a weaker guard. Cotto has learnt some new skill since then, measures his pace and moves much more effectively. I'm not high on N'Dam, hes doing a lot dancing and useless moves and has no real remarkable strengths. i think Cotto would beat him easily, in and out and would put his head on N'Dams chest and go to work a bit like the Margo rematch. but Sturm would be a tough cookie for Cotto imo.
If Golovkin beats Pirog and looks good on BAD, then that would be another great option and a fight that could probably be made at some 155 type catchweight..:deal

It's not guaranteed that he is; he was just tossing around the idea of becoming PR's first 4-weight champion.

Felix is an underrated fighter imo, I'm a fan of him and although Cotto is without doubt a beast I can't favour a former lightweight to do the business over him. Sturm comes on extremely strong in the late rounds where I figure Cotto will be breathing heavily, Sturms jab would also be way too strong for him.

Just throwing out the idea cos of rumours, I really wuldnt feel as confident with Cotto goin against Martinez/Junior @ 160 so Sturm was my next option
