Here, the local papers are hinting at a possible farewell fight between former champs Miguel Cotto and Tito Trinidad at a catchweight somewhere between 158 and 164 :)huh).

I have Trinidad smashing Cotto's fragile jaw in this one!

    Vote and discuss.

I will co-sign on this on. Inside sources have told me the same thing. But since you brought it up. There are serious discussions about this.

Although Tito did say he was done a few weeks back in a discussion with Lou D.

    Tito needs to stay retired.

The man has been humiliated against both Winky and Jones, especially with Jones who played with him.

That proposed weight is too much for Cotto imo. Also, I have lost faith in Cotto's chin. I think it gets shattered by a Trinidad left hook.

Prime Tito KO Cotto inside 8 rounds.
Now, Tito still KO's Cotto. Cotto is WAY too small.

This is an interesting match up. I think Tito has a bit more left than some might think, atleast against Jones I thought he had something left he was just in with a much bigger, better, and wrong styled fighter. I'd prefer Cotto to face some of the more relevant welterweights but this isn't too bad of a match up. They would have to fight at middlweight and that is too big for Cotto but Tito is far removed from his peak. I think I'd take Cotto by decision but I doubt this actually happens.

Has everyone lost their minds? Trinidad is so far past it, it's not even funny. The man has fought onec in the past 4 years. He hasn't won a fight in 5 years. Miguel Cotto is an elite fighter abd although this would a move up in weight. He still dominates the old Tito, probably stops him.

That's too heavy for Cotto. If he can get Tito down to 147 (yeah right) then I think Cotto takes it. Not at 158 though.

Tito didn't look terrible against Roy. In fact, he was fairly competitive.

Of course, Roy was only a shell of his old self, blah blah...but Hanshaw and Ajamu aren't terrible fighters and this same old shell was able to beat them convincingly. To put things in perspective, would you favor Cotto (whose range of efficacy is from 140 to 154, tops) against Hanshaw or Ajamu? Of course not. He's far greater than either in p4p ability, and certainly in achievement, but taking on either of them would be a fool's errand. Too big.

Pacquiaos, Toneys, and Armstrongs of the world notwithstanding - a solid C+/B- guy is going to have to be favored over even an A- guy who campaigns an average of three weight divisions lighter.

Trinidad looked a C+/B- light heavyweight in his bid against Jones. Even if we call him a C-level super middleweight, that's too big for Cotto. Trinidad was an oversized welterweight, Cotto's a small one (or at the very least, not an iota above average in terms of size). We're still talking 5" skews in height and reach.

Cotto against Pacquiao, landed 172 of 597...29%
Trinidad against Jones, landed 160 of 552...29%

    Food for thought. :think

At 147 Cotto would win fairly easily, Tito would be pretty drained. The higher the weight, the more Tito will gain an advantage. Tito wins this match above 154 I think, he'd have a big power advantage at that weight and Cotto's just too short to compete above welter.

I'd bet Trinidad smashing on any version of Cotto.
(Including any version of Trinidad, even a 50%)
