Cotto ~vs~ Williams

if Cotto wins then i say Cotto. If not, Williams.

 

You guys think Williams is your ordinary tall lanky fighter. He is not. This mother****er took Margaritos best **** and finished the fight the stronger man. Cotto was uncomfortable with Margaritos relentless pace and output. PW fights at a faster pace and starts early. PW beats the living **** out of Cotto. I used to think Cotto would take but after watching the Margarito fight. Cotto would already be busted up before he gets in there to get off his combos. Cotto busts up too easy.

and u guys forget that he took all of walter matthysse's punches, whom i consider a BIGGER puncher than cotto. i can give a damn about he last couple of performances. he fought a true power puncher in matthysse and stayed on his feet. cotto DOES NOT have one punch KO power. and if williams can survive margarito's body shots he can survive cottos.

i feel that most ppl picking cotto are moreso picking against williams. and are margarito fans.

 

Speaking of Matthyse. Williams still remembers those shots he took from him. Even after the Margarito fight, Williams was talking about the shots he took from Matthyse made his whole body numb.

 

Bad matchup for Cotto. Williams in 6.

I disagree.
I would say Cotto much better and has legitimate KO power.
Check William's record out.
He feists on mostly "tomato cans."
Against real fighters he is there to hit.
Cotto isnt.

 

I would lean with this assesment.

 

Please tell me how many times Williams has been on the canvas. Please tell me how many times he's been stopped. The last time I checked, Cotto was the only one between the two who's been down and who's been stopped.

Think about what you're saying for a second. You're saying that Williams, who is much bigger, stronger and has a much better chin than Cotto has a better shot of getting stopped than Cotto. Now obviously, this doesn't make much sense at all. Cotto does most of his damage by wearing down his opponents with his body work. To work the body, you have to be coming foward, and you have to get inside. A 5 '6 fighter with short arms, suspect defense, and who struggles to take a punch will have a hard time getting inside on a guy who is damn near 6 '3, has an 81 inch reach and who has one punch KO power.

 

So, whats your point?

 

Read the exchange between Rodney and myself and you'll see. The point is simple; if these two fought, Cotto would have a much better chance of getting knocked than would Williams.
