ESPN: Top Rank planning Cotto's next for March 12, maybe vs Vanes Martirosyan, and then the Margarito rematch in June if Cotto wins. By the way, besides Vanes for Cotto the other name being tossed around by Top Rank is Pawel Wolak. ___ I like all those fights as a booster fight for Cotto. I rather see Vanes though. Wolak would be like watching Cotto/Gomez all over again.
Cotto has been out of the ring for over a year so a stay busy fight against two of this contenders is good for him.
Isnt Vanes supposed to be a pretty good talent? If i remember right thats the guy that KOd Bute in the Ams right?
Good to see Cotto taking a fight before Margarito. That fight is suppose to happen in June and by that point Cotto would have been off for a year or so. Martirosyan is a bigger threat than Wolak, Cotto beats both but Martiroyson would put up a tough fight. Wolak gets beaten up badly by Cotto, he's a tough guy but far too limited to give Cotto too much trouble. I think we see Wolak against Cotto since the Margarito fight will only be about 3 months away and Vanes is much more likely to put Cotto through a rough fight. It wouldn't surprise me to see Margarito on the undercard of this fight.
