Nah...Maravilla has only got 2 or 3 fights left in him. He needs to make sure he makes the best $s he can. If I'm reading the tealeaves right, the GGG fight will happen, but not until Sergio's ready to retire - either late 2014 or early 2015. I ain't keen on it myself, but Maravillas been a good champ and deserves a decent payday or two - I'll only be annoyed if he somehow loses the 160 lineal to a non-MW when there's already an heir apparent ready and waiting.
How can anyone not be a fan of Cotto? Dude fights the best and challenges himself. Martinez is a bigger threat than Canelo.
Marco Antonio Rubio is the mandatory for Martinez, so for the fight to happen wouldn't Martinez have to pay Rubio 'step aside' money? If so, is a fight with Cotto really worth it? I know Cotto is popular, but he's never fought at middleweight. I really don't care to see this fight happen.
I imagine there will be a few fighters wanting a piece of Martinez now father time has caught up with him.
Look, lets be realistic...Sergio is the best fight for Cotto right now. We don't need to see young hyped Canelo take another "L" to his paper record. Who's calling "Sergio" out right now and is going out of there way to make a fight happen..."NO ONE"...this will be a good fight for boxing.
Good stuff from cotto hes a G. either way you look at it he fights everybody and getting payed for it too he knows hes one of the top money guys in boxing so that canelo fight is always going to be there. i wish him luck and hope to see him train in cali for this fight. my fave boxer of this era.
Would be an interesting fight, for as long as it lasts. If Sergio has anything left, I see him getting a stoppage.
