Cotto was doing so well with the jab, why did he stop using it?

Cotto looked great when he used his jab tonight, like in rounds 1 and 5 and round 3 and 4 before he was dropped. After that he started brawling and that is where he started getting hurt and countered too much because of pacs incredible speed.

I dont think Manny is unbeatable at all, on the contrary, tonight proved that a boxer with a good jab can give manny fits. Floyd Mayweather and Mosley, and maybe still marquez have the style to possibly beat Manny.

A jab is meant to set things up and Cotto just couldn't follow up with it, he landed the jab and Pac was gone. I imagine that frustration combined with the fact that he accepted defeat somewhere in the 5th round is why he stopped.

Cotto was having great sucess strictly boxing Pacquiao.
He was leading with a strong jab, and working other punches off of the jab......

Look at the latter half of the 2nd round.....Cotto in his sucess in landing on Pacquiao while boxing, then wants more and tries to push for more.....He starts warring with Pacquiao in an attempt to punish.....

While for nearly two rounds Cotto was in boxing mode, he then reverts to a seek and destroy mode......not good, as that was Pacquiao's window to get into the fight......and once that happened and Cotto got dropped, it became a snowball effect where Cotto just could'nt stop the avalanche.

You've got to be so sharp and mentally diciplined in the way to approach Pacquiao.
Cotto who's naturally a Warrior, just did'nt have that dicipline to strictly stick to boxing and refrain at all cost from going to War with Manny, who is a nonstop extremely fast punching machine.

People make the mistake of fighting Pac's fight when they could just outbox him. PBF won't make that mistake who will fight to win at all costs.:deal

Mayweather would'nt even get into a prolonged exchange with JMM, so you know he's not about to get into one with Pacquiao.

He didn't need to and still shut him out.:deal The problem with Pac will have with PBF is he isn't going to hit him like he did Cotto but he will get hit in return.

What fight were you watching? Cotto lost the jab around the mid rounds along with the will to win.
