ok but what does him weighing whatever he gotta weigh have to do with him not bein able to eat for a day so he can make weight..once ur body gets down low enough in weight 2 lbs makes a big difference in terms of strength...

He wouldn't be losing 2 pounds, you window licker. He would be losing 2 additional pounds, above the 15-20 pounds that he is use to losing. Draining to 147 has probably become a bit of a science for Cotto by now, and when you change that, pushing the envelope a little further, it can have significant effects.

Obviously it changes from fighter to fighter but we do not know exactly how well he can do it until he does. Cotto was incredibly drained at the end of his 140 days, looking like Skeletor. He has now been fighting at 147 for some time and has grown into the weight, he still looks quite gaunt and pale at weigh in time. So its entirely possible that a couple of pounds could be 1 or 2 pounds beyond what he is safely capable of.

Depends how tight at the weight he is. I'm of the opinion losing too much weight is a lot worse than putting on a few lbs, a lot more damaging.

Cotto to me never looks healthy on the scales so in his case 2lbs could be a lot.

I mean whats the point really. Manny Pacquiao is going to be just as strong at 147 as 144, infact he'd probably weigh in at the same. What's the point in getting lame advantages, just fight the best Miguel Cotto. If you good enough you good enough.

LOL....are you serious? If Cotto is "struggling" to make 147, loosing the "15 to 20 lbs" that most fighters at lower weight do all the time, then he needs to fight at 154 because he is obviously NOT a WW! Which is even more absurd calling out PAC if this is the case.

Why not Cotto fight the best PAC??? At 140 or better yet at 135? Why not just say you don't want to see Cotto fight PAC for whatever reason you have b/c the catch weight is more than fair for both parties as this is pitting a smaller man vs a bigger man to begin with.

You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. So please just shut the **** up.

2 lbs? 2lbs is a lot when you are already losing 12+lbs to make weight.

    Stupid ****.

Quite possibly. I have cut weight many times before in my life. I have been to the point where I could run with solar suits on for 2 hours, and not even lose a 1/4 pound. Eventually you hit a wall.

Homie...Its not the "nerve" of some people. It's the facts that are there in front of us that we have to use. Cotto is a man, a champion and pro. He "Chooses" what weight suits him and what weight he fights at. "IF" cotto struggles to make 147 and it's "debilitating to him then he shouldn't be a WW. At some point he has got to say making the weight is more of a fight than the actual fight. In which case Cotto should be a Jr MW or MW depending on what his body tells him. It's not PAC or Roach's fault Cotto is a Jr MW or MW posing as a WW in order to gain some kind of advantage over real WW's. They have to make decisions based on what is right there in front of them and Cotto is a WW who faught most of his career as a jr WW where PAC is now fighting.

Honestly... I was at the point before in wrestling where I had cut 19 pounds pretty quick. After that point... I had to starve myself for 4 days, and not take a sip of water for 1 1/2 days just to get down two more pounds to make weight. Those last couple pounds when you have nothing to lose is HELL!

Let no one cloud fiction with reality ie: if he can make 146 he can make 144 and just add the weight back on in a day and the fighter will be ok.

As many who actually have done it on this board said (and historical fact), not that any of that matters in fiction world. The human body can only drain so much, and 2 lbs does matter when you hit that point. Your muscles can only drain so much before ill effects set in, and it takes more than a few burgers for your body to recover. So Cotto weighs in at 143-44, you think the next night at 157 fight night he is recovered from the drain. Then your ill informed.

Someone said well Cotto will but 10-15 lgs back on in a day, well maybe so. But your body doesn't recover from the added drain in a day or 2.

This is proven sports science, and human physiology fact. You can only go so low, you may be able to put some weight back on, but it takes allot of time to get your strength, endurance and reflexes back. from the draing effects on your body.

I can't believe this has been debated for 8 pages, It's fact.

LOL....I've been ther myself when I wrestled bro. It got to the point where loosing the weight hindered my performance which was my point. I think my coach wanted me to fight at a wieght that just wasn't a fit for me. He felt I'd hold some kind of advantage fighting at the lower weight when in fact it messed me up in my Sr year of HS.
