A win over an (at the time) over rated Zab Judah, and an old shane mosley/sparring partner make you that dude to beat?

I mean he is a really good fighter but he just isn't in Floyd's class

It seems like people jump on the first dick in sight after Floyd forces them to remove the previous one out their mouth!

The media is setting this kid up for failure! Just like they did Hatton!

Give him a chance to prove his self first! He has his little undefeated record (which he should have) but he should look at fighting the undefeated fighter ranked parallel (yall might say right behind) to him, Paul williams!

HE HAS TO PROVE HE IS READY AND WORTHY OF FIGHTING FLOYD! FLOYD DOESN"T HAVE TO PROVE **** TO THIS GUY OR TWO FACED BOB ARUM!

Arum and Cotto smell big, big money. If Cotto fights Williams and loses (which I think he would) any chance of fighting Mayweather is done.

floyd fans always want his future opponents to clear the even more dangerous contenders before facing him...ahahhahahahahhahhahaah

that way floyd wont have to...

and how does beating a never was in oscar and a midget in hatton make you the best welterweight....neither of them are welterweights...ahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaah

at 147 COTTO IS THE ****EN KING

    My thoughts exactely.
He may be one of or even the best skilled ww fighter...but he hasn't proven it enough at the moment to be considered in the same class as Floyd. The records speak (and i'm talking about the complete records, not just limited to one single division)

Let Cotto beat a few stardom fighters and unify some ww titles. Only then can he actually talk with Mayweather and force him to take the fight. And while he's at it he should learn how to speak aswell, because everything he says right now is boring the hell out me.
learn how to call some fighters out man! Instead of just saying "Arum will handle that". Try to be interesting out of the ring aswell as inside.
All the great fighters were from fascinating (Ali, Holmes etc) to interesting (rjj) to listen to. None of them were as boring to listen to as Cotto.
It's almost like B Arum owns his ass and he's not allowed to talk boxing.

Imo right now Floyd is the dude to beat (he beat the linear WW and is widely and unanimously considered the undisputed p4p king) and all the other title-holders are equally a step below (Cotto, Williams etc all equal on one line). None of the other titleholders can claim to stick out.

From those titleholders a dude will have to emerge (unification) to actually to be noticed (financially aswell as legacy-wise) and considered by mayweather

If you want to use that argument then why PBF is the guy...because he beat:

    Arturo Gatti- a shot fighter

    Sharmbe Mitchell- another shot fighter

Zab Judah-over rated as you mentioned

ODLH- old and way past his prime....who lost to SSM twice at his prime

Ricky Hatton- a blown up JRWW...

So if you want to tell tales....I think you better be carefull since PBF has more tales that COTTO..

    Oh, really?

Here's a short list of rated fighters that Cotto's defeated over the past couple of years.

Paulie Malignaggi (current titleholder at 140lbs.)
Ricardo Torres (current titleholder at 140lbs.)
Carlos Quintana (rated top 10 at 147lbs)
Oktay Urkal (rated Top 10 at 147lbs.)
Zab Judah (former champion, rated Top 5 at 147lbs.)
Shane Mosley (former champion, rated Top 5 at 147lbs.)

That makes him a legitimate contender, in the eyes of any rational observer.

    Let's put it another way...

Who, at 147lbs, is more worthy to face Floyd than Cotto, right now. Who would you want to see him fight?

I assume that with this statement you meant SINCE PBF became champion he has not done this.

When Judah fought Floyd, he was coming off a loss to Baldomir. That hardly makes him "the man".
