The only way to beat Pacquiao is to counter him. Even that can sometimes backfires, as Pacquiao has improved dramatically, countering even the counterpuncher Marquez. Cotto doesn't have the counterpunching speed, reflex, hand-eye coordination and superb timing of Marquez.

De la Hoya tried to be a counter-puncher against Pacquiao, unfortunately Oscar's physicality is of subpar standard and what makes it worst he's left-hand dominant. What's more Pacquiao can now fight backwards.

When on the defensive, Cotto enters the turtle mode. Pacquiao has long added to his offensive arsenal fake jabs, up and down feints, with 3 or 4 punch fast combos from different angles. Manny smart fast footwork also ensure of him having high percentage of accurate punches landing when faced with turtle defense (see Diaz, De la Hoya and Hatton).

Pacquiao moves in and out, side to side, throwing trajectory angle power punches while moving at an unpredictable direction at an uncanny speed. Cotto's feet moves when he's on the defensive and when his arms are tired.

You're trying to base this off of only clips, EVERYONE will have a highlight and EVERYONE will have a clip where they look like complete ****.

Its all well and good people saying 'how will pac take cottos power' but how will cotto react to the power of pac? Even at 147 cotto can be rocked. If it wasnt for the size difference i'd be picking pacquiao by 1st half of the fight ko. One thing about cotto though is that he does have excellent timing however you also need serious speed to beat this version of pacquiao. I just rewatched marquez pacquiao 2, the speed of single shots by marquez were the same was pacquiao plus skills wise marquez is a level above cotto.

Cotto must fight patiently in this fight and be careful not to leave openings for shots too often.

:deal Basically there is a chasm of skill difference between pacquiao marquez and cotto. The only reason cotto is not a mismatch is due to size and power.

If Cottos eye can keep intact he should be good. Cotto is an extremly smart fighter, who can deliver some serious power with his left. But against a southpaw like Pac, you need a good right.

Manny is fresh, suffering no damage against DLH or Hatton. Cotto went throught hell against Margo, and then a tough fight against Clottey. He's getting minimal time to recover before facing Manny.

that first clip of pacquiao/marquez looks similar to sequence of punches that knocked out hatton.

    1. Pacquiao is going to destroy that left eye with right jabs and right hooks.

    2. Southpaw vs. Orthodox southpaw, advantage southpaw.

Cotto will be a lot bigger than Pac. His combinations which troubles Pac are also pretty fast. JMM was able to interrupt Pac in the middle of his flurry, if Cotto does that he wins...if he just tries to cover up however, Pac will have his way.

Pac UD or TKO 11/12. I think he beats Cotto up bad, although there's a good chance Cotto will simply be too strong and will slaughter Pac by bulldozing him.

Based on recent performance you have to go with PAC. But still Cotto will be a lot bigger than PAC come fight night. If Cotto can neutralize PAC's speed by countering, he has a great chance.

after hatton i have a new rule: always bet on pac. I love cotto and stuck for him WILDLY after the clottey fight (which he won). I think he can adapt incredibly well, is phenomenal offensively and improved defensively. having said that, pac is too fast. cotto's hand speed is nowhere near pacs and more importantly pacs FOOTWORK is far better. Cotto does well moving forward but when pac backs him up, he's going to get hurt.
