If Cotto stops him in brutal fashion though, he will prove once again why he is considered among the best in the sport. Gomez is b level at best. A fighter of Miguel Cotto's calibre should take care of him with ease.
Apart from a possibly easy tuneup with a name, this is a no win situation for Cotto. Even if he destroys Gomez he cant get any credit. Which is fair enough, but at the same time alot of people are using Gomez size as excuse as to why he may give Cotto a tough fight or even possibly beat him, however those same people will claim afterwards that Cotto should have destroyed him anyways so would still fail to give him credit. Its a fight where some people can expect Gomez to pull off the upset yet at the same time wont be the least bit surprised if Cotto blows him away.
and if gomez goes the distance we wont hear the end of it, i cant see cotto being the first to stop gomez, he has fought middleweights and super middleweights.
I agree on all points. Cotto will tear Gomez up. And like you say about the ESB trends, look at how everybody went nuts because Abraham managed to KO the very limited Ayala with :28 seconds to go in the 12th!! AA supporters went bat****!! and when the possible Miranda/AA II match came up, they had the damn nerve to knock on Miranda for beating Banks, when Banks with NO ams. experience had beaten Ayala TWICE!!
since when did you become a cotto fan? weren't you one of the idiots calling me an idiot for picking cotto to beat judah?
I doubt it, I tihnk people want a rematch since theres no way this happens unless Cotto really shits the bed.
Gomez will give cotto trouble early on. He's one tough *******. He's not a lame-o. He's obviously got the chin, i don't know how well he takes a shot to the body. It'll be a good fight, i think cotto might win this via wide UD or late stoppage...body shots.
I wouldn't be so sure about that... Gomez has never been down in his career to the best of my knowledge and he throws hard, straight right hands down the middle that have the capability to knock welterweights the **** out. I suppose you could consider Gomez a boxer-puncher, and considering Cotto's style which generally involves getting close to his opponents and landing bodyshots, this might be a hard fight for Cotto to win. Cotto can't blink in this fight. REMEMBER, STYLES MAKE FIGHTS.
