It is not that Cotto is not smart boxer for he is. He has demostrated his offense arsenal and combination punching time and time again and getting better with it. Improved stamina and a trainer who is knowledgable and gives him undivided attention. Steward was a waste of time. Cotto will lose bc FLoyd is so much quicker with his hands and feet which is a very distinct weakness of Cotto. Cotto will be force to defend as he is trying to close Floyd down and find a chance to do damage himself. Floyd is going to stick and move until Cotto becomes fustrated and the second he senses Cotto is giving up in pursue, Floyd is going to open a vicious offensive on slaught in trying to outdo Pac and try to KO Cotto. Ending a TKO or brutal one sided beating after round 6. This is my prediction.
He hasn't stuck and moved since Hatton. In the Mosley, Marquez and Ortiz fights he was flat footed as ****. He's more of a James Toney as time progresses which will play into Cotto's hands. I too feel he's going to lose because of the politics of the situation, but Floyd will look more vulnerable than ever.
I don't think Floyd will stop him in the early mid rounds. Pac took some punches from Cotto and broke him down afterwards. I think Floyd will be trying to avoid getting hit and just settle into a rythm where he systematically beats Cotto to the punch and if he gases or get worn out he might stop him late. As to sticking and moving, he might, but in his last two fights he's been more engaging and fighting in the pocket blocking, slipping and rolling punches. A little brawling from Mayweather won't be such a surprise to me. Cotto is tough enough to last the distance and floyd won't get stopped or outboxed. Floyd UD imo
If he fights the same way he's fightint, he can end the fight in the first half. But he'll move a little and, when he finds Cotto starts to fight that way en route to a 9th round stoppage.
