I watch the fight last night and the fight went similiar to the Jennings fight. I didn't expect Cotto to look bad against Foreman but I wanted him to look great. A knockout in the first 3 rounds would have been great. Even the body shot was a good shot but Foreman signaled no more ( waved the fight off) and he wasn't even showing any pain from the body shot. Cotto got hit with straight rights and hooks and if he get hit with those same shots from Martinez, Williams and Cintron. He will be getting off the canvas. Cotto is trying to rebuild his career that was snatched away by Margo and what I believe was loaded gloves. I hope that Cotto can get back to the Pre- Margo tenacity but it going to take more fights with featherd fisted fighters and they are not alot of them out there. It's amazing that Arum run Cotto into the dirt but protect the other fights from abuse in the ring.

A cotto vs Berto showdown would set up the next logical opponent for mayweather after his next fight against Pac, assuming it happens of course.

The Berto fight would be a excellent war due to Berto wild style. I think Cotto wins this fight by close decision. Berto would put enough leather on Cotto and vice versa. I hate what has happen to Cotto's career. Margo should be banned for life because Cintron career has turned to crap also.

Pac and Mayweather are the only two I would favour over Cotto at 147.

There are many fighters I would favour over Cotto at 154. Cotto is too small for that division, he needs to come back down or else take an easy fight up there, in all fairness, the guy deserves and easy night.

Berto makes the most sense for him. Possibly a revenge rematch with the cheating scumbag at 147 after that.

154 is a pretty wide open division right now, and while Cotto has eliminated the weakest title holder there, it'll definitely be a jump up vs Spinks, Dzin, Martinez, or Williams (who doesn't have a belt but is on that level). It might not be a slam dunk that he beats any of those guys, but it's not entirely out of the question, either. And, as we've seen, Cotto's not afraid to take the toughest fights out there- he consistently fights top fighters as much as any active fighter in the sport today. He wouldn't be able to take on the top level of 154 every fight and have his usual level of success, but he's got the ability to unify against one or two of what's out there if he's on his game.

The money talks so a Margo, Pac, or Mosley rematch seems more likely, but I definitely wouldn't rule out Cotto against any of the 4 names I mentioned even if he wouldn't be the clear favorite against them.

I like to see Cotto fight Berto or Angulo. Both are good fights but are pressure fighters. Not much left out there. If Cotto don't win his next big fight he will end up being a gate keeper for strong young fights. I don't want that for him.

Cotto's best chance would be against Berto.

Cotto is not Arums boy anymore, he will give Cotto the tough crap fight and will let his other stablemate have a cake walk or thrown fight ( Pac vs Clottey). If Clottey would have fought Pac the way he fought Cotto and ever other fighter. I think there would have been a different outcome. Guys I hate to say but Cotto career is looking pretty short.

Cotto does not have the same starpower as Pacquiao or Mayweather. He HAS to fight tough opponents to get PPV style paydays from here on out.

BTW, Cotto had a war with Clottey. Who Pac pushed around as well. Clottey could not fight Pac the same way he fought Cotto for three good reasons: Speed+Angles+Volume.

Cotto is inferior to Pacquiao in those three categories. And they are the categories by which Clottey could not fight the way he did against Cotto. It's a styles thing.

It's basically the same reason why nobody fights Calzaghe really well even though the man is a famed slapper. Even Bhop admitted as much. You concentrate so much on when the other guy will slip in a good punch, you forget to punch back.

BTW, Foreman was pretty much a pushover in this fight. Arum likely knew it.

You're ****in crazy. The Cotto that showed up against Foreman looked just as good as the guy that fought Mosley, and he already beat Mosley anyway.

    Would Cotto beat Mayweather? No.

Would Cotto beat Pac? You already know the answer to that one.

Other than that, he can beat anybody outside of Paul Williams. On paper, Cintron would give him a difficult fight, but Cintron has a track record of having no heart.

Berto's chin is made out of glass, and while his defense has improved significantly, his hit and hold tactics wouldn't be as effective against Cotto as they were against Quintana. It just gives Cotto an opportunity to land his left hooks to the body.

And Foreman was champ, so it's not like Cotto has no chance against the elite guys at 154. Again, I don't think he would beat Paul Williams, and I think Martinez overall movemen and skill would be too much for him, but who else would beat him?

Although I'd probably favor Angulo, but Kirkland, nope. And who the hell has Drizunik or whatever the hell his name is fought?

Cotto also looked better than both guys on the undercard as well.

So I think you're givin Cotto an unfair shake, and discrediting Foreman too much, especially since he was fighting in front of a hometown crowd, and he's just coming off a DOMINATING win against Santos.
