He has been quoted about how he doesn't believe in clinching, which I can respect and I give him mad props for.... BUT is there any way he can win the rematch without clinching? I mean everyone questions his stamina, but really... when the fight was on the inside he ate a lot of solid body shots which slowed him down, not to mention also many uppercuts to his face ... Can he win without clinching and strictly relying on movement and boxing?
He can use the hit and run tactics, with an emphasis on the running part. Margarito is susceptable to a runner, and running takes ALOT less energy than standing in there and trading shots.
he can win the remach its a reality the main factor here is cotto cant fight on the backfoot all night. if he stays in the center of the ring and of the ropes its possible he can win it be interesting how shane does against him the only fight cotto won on the back foot was abdulaev thats because he could be hurt and doesent have the same chin as margarito lets c how margarito does after his impresive win first to c if he is still the machine he is.
The only way I see Cotto winning by this method is if he comes in with better stamina than the last fight. Which may be possible.
Anybody who has questioned Cotto's stamina has obviously never done any boxing. Try listening to Teddy Atlas, he will tell you what boxers need to do to win. Margarito did it. Cotto was going to fall victim no matter what.
he can win with the same style he had in the first fight but going to magarito's body and keep the fight in the middle of the ring giving him angles at a closer distance not like the first fight where he gave margarito enough room to punch
When I heard Cotto make this comment my initial reaction was that he was kidding himself - he'll have to clinch.
If you know Cotto....he is a serious person...all he has to say is...I'm looking forward to the rematch....from what I see of him and from his family....Cotto has put that loss behind him and has more confidence than ever. But, then again we will have to see in the Jennings fight and in the rematch.
