Hell No this fight needs to be in LAS VEGAS as bob arum stated, " this is were legendary fights are fought." Don't usually agree with Bob, but can't argue with him here. Same reason every american Wants to see Joe Cal fight in Vegas, to see if he can come out of his enviornment and fight where legends are immortalized.
Yeah, that's why Cotto-Gomez had more in attendance than Mayweather-Baldomir did. Many of those stars who you mention "trickled out the arena" before the fight was even over as Merchant said. Some support.
You have proof of that? ... I didn't know the attendance was announce during either fight ... and if i'm not mistaken PBF did 350k buys with an unknown Baldomir while ... Cotto had to co-headline a venue with Margarito.
these 10oz gloves are alot more bigger than what many people make them out to be. they do make a significant factor
If he's landing punches, it doesn't make a different about the size ... they spar and train with 12-16oz gloves. If he's landing I doubt the glove sides will effect the outcome of the fight. Thats what its all about ...:good
"A star-studded crowd of 9,427 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino saw Mayweather win virtually every round and a unanimous decision despite injuring his hand midway through the fight." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/2006-11-05-mayweather-baldomir-wbc-welterweight_x.htm Both Cotto and Margarito were brutally efficient during knockout victories Saturday in their respective welterweight title fights before an enthralled crowd of 9,724 at Boardwalk Hall. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_y...F?slug=ki-cottomarg041208&prov=yhoo&type=lgns If I'm not mistaking, PBF also fought Sharmba Mitchell in Bum****, Oregon on regular HBO after fighting Gatti on PPV, in front of 7,000 fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=2231943 Please don't tell me you're trying to imply that Margarito is a draw.
7,000 fans in a very small boxing market is good ... Cotto couldn't do that ... and the fact that he was able to get than many fans says alot, especially against Sharmba Mitchell. Michael Jordan and Phil Knight were present when he fought.
It was Gatti's home turf and Floyd took him out on his home turf ... something that Cotto has never done ... Floyd also beat a reigning champion for his title, unlike fighting for a vacant belt. A champion is going to fight hard to retain his belt ... Cotto has never experienced that.
Hilarious. What did Floyd say about Gatti before the fight? "He' aint a real champion..he's a paper champion. He's a C-class fighter and only got a belt because they stripped Kostya Tszyu." You make it seem like Gatti was the man to beat at 140. There's a reason why Max Kellerman said before the fight it was "the biggest PPV mismatch since Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson." Gatti was a beaten man before he even entered the ring, evidenced by him getting startled by the explosion during his ring entrance. Nobody gave Gatti a chance in that fight, and the ones who did were simply wishfully thinking. Him holding a belt wasn't gonna do anything to increase his chances in that fight.
OF COURSE margarito doesnt care if they use bigger gloves.... lol... hes the one getting punched, and hes the bigger man! i hope they DONT fight there and that they get to wear 8's. I hope cotto cuts margarito up
Ricky Hatton is the man at 140 and Floyd beat him ... when all were saying that he was the guy Floyd shouldve been fighting in the first place.
