That is a good saying indeed. I think Cotto at least will come very close. But first see how hatten will do. You can talk and write and analyze months but it can all turn out diffirent in the fight..theorie is theorie. Dec 8th we will see what hatten doen and more important: HOW he does things and does it affect floyd
To say either wins with ease isn't being realistic. Both Cotto and Mayweather would be in for tough fights and would have big problems to solve. For Mayweather, he would have to find an answer to Cotto's relentless pressure, will, strength, body punching, and jab. For Cotto, he would have to find an answer to Mayweather's speed, defense, ring generalship, and movement. I say this would be a hell of a fight and one we will know more about after December 8th.
Mayweather's ring generalship is overrated, Cotto would be controlling the match. Eating some shots, but controlling the match and Mayweather would be put in situations he hates and would have to be prepared to go to war if necessary. The pot shotting routine would get him a big loss vs. Cotto.
Cotto is very effective at cutting off the ring ..Floyd would have to pot shot Miguel all night in order to win ..Timing always nuetralizes speed !
I will say that if anybody beats Mayweather, it's Cotto. He would make Mayweather fight, and Mayweather wouldn't be coming forward like Mosley - because he definitely is not as strong. Cotto would take more risks than he did last night as well.
cotto is a a1 fighter and is very determined and i dont c anybody beating him in that weight class including mayweather aka flava flav
I disagree even Shane who's not the best general was controlling the action and backed Cotto up. PBF's ring generalship is one of his best assests which he uses effectively in every fight. He figures people out and makes them fight his fight second only to Hopkins. PBF would use his movement, speed and defense to control the pace of this fight.
People miss why Mosely was effective late, he played slugger as an answer to a crouching swarmers pressure. Then Cotto adapted and tried to play boxer against the slugging Mosely. Does anybody see Mayweather slugging with anyone? I sure don't. He'll go in a defensive shell and get pulverised, Cotto is accurate enough to get inside his defence, he's done it on everyone he's faced.
Well fighters like Oscar make it easy ..I think Cotto's youth and detrmination would find MW often if they fought ..
Mosely and Floyd are different fights. A crouching swarmer matches up extremely well with the tentative boxer that Mayweather has become. See how Mosely was trying to box Cotto early and was getting owned essentially? He made the right move in transitioning to a slugger based effort, that works well on a swarmer. Floyd would never do it, he'd get stopped if he seriously traded with Cotto.
No, but he'd get hammered in accumulation, little bit here, little bit there and down the stretch it would get heavier and heavier providing that Cotto is in good order with stamina. The point I was trying to make is that Floyd would have to take punishment in order to win, if he tried to avoid to the point he did vs. DLH, he would get pressured even more due to showing low offensive numbers and that would mean that his attempt at playing it safe would actually backfire and he'd take even more punishment due to Cotto being able to man handle him. Now, stop nut hugging Mayweather.
Floyd is a far better boxer then Shane and he has a better sense of distance. But Cottos hand speed and tight tucked in chin would make floyd have to throw uppercuts or do body work which makes him vulnerable to left hooks and whatever. I dont know guys. Cotto has the tools and style to get it done. The guy is ****ing accurate as ****. This is coming from a TRUE floyd fan. Floyd would have to take risks to score or he would lose on points. Cotto does not throw wide or looping shots at all hardly so this is a severe threat to Floyd.
