I think what people are really underratting Cotto's handspeed. He's decent enough to counter what Floyd throws ...He's not Gatti now ..
well as far as Hattons power not hurting Floyd well That might be being said because of what happened in the DLH fight. DLH fought in spurts and he jsut had a really awful strategy as far as beating FLoyd. The difference between Hatton and DLH is that Hatton can go 12 rounds constantly punching hard. Sure he doesn't punch as fast as DLH but he still can fight hard. If Hatton can come in with the energy he did vs Kosta Tszyu or even better than that, then Hatton will give Floyd a run for his money.
Mayweather fans sound paranoid. Lets see Gayweather beat Hatton first before even considering fighting a challenge like Cotto.
As I said, people are overlooking certain aspects of Cotto's game. Cotto has exactly what he needs to hit Floyd. Floyd's style and game aint SSM. Mosley is more active and came forward better than Floyd will. Floyd doesnt want this fight and we'll see IF THE CHERRY PICKING CONTINUES??????
Definitely a good matchup. As great a boxer as FMJ is, he will be tested to the limit, no doubt. Let's get it on.
Hands down Cotto has matured and added more weapons to his skill set. BUT....i think Mosley severely underestimated Cotto causing him to eat a lot of punches. You see thats the big difference in Mosley and Floyd...Floyd KNOWS his opponents and doesnt take anything for granted. If you ever pay attention Floyd starts fights off as a feeling out method to see their speed and power so he can gauge what he does and how he does it. Floyd will not will not underestimate Cotto one because thats not what FLoyd does and 2 because now Cotto has exposed what he can do and now Floyd wont be surprised and can gameplan for it. This fight MUST happen i would be extremely shocked and puzzled by Floyd if goes anywhere else i dont care if it was Williams or cintron or Margo....i want the Cotto fight if he beats Hatton. Cotto damn well deserves it as i too was a naysayer of his skills and though Sugar should beat him. Cotto showed me he is a damn good boxer now not just a fighter. His jab was extremely good as Mosley tried walking to him. There were so many differences though in the Mosley fight and how Floyd would fight. Its too many to damn name....i do think PBF will beat Cotto because the one thing Cotto hasnt done is step his defensive game up thats the one thing and against someone like Floyd he will definitely need that because he ate a awful lot of uppercuts and in fact if Mosley stuck to the uppercuts he may win or even TKO Mosley but i think he just was weary of the jab Cotto was hittin him with. Also Mosley connected a lot with his right hook to Cotto's head a lot he landed good body punches and jabs. However Cotto did it all BETTER extremely better to a man who just couldnt get out the way and who's defense just wasnt there that night. That was a GREAT win for Cotto take nothing from him but please keep in in perspective when putting him up against PBF because all that you seen is out the window PBF is a different beast....this fight will be VERY VERY good...a must happen but i have my money on Floyd if he gets past Ricky.
Wow..brilliant post Check it.....Cotto and the Winner of Williams vs Cintron are the two biggest fights/defenses available to Floyd Mayweather Jr. It's time for Floyd to make his statement and do something he's never done and clean out a division. SRR, SRL and others made impacting resume's at 47, and Mayweather has top quality opposition in front of him. With the money and the legacy values at stake? How can one call himself the Champion and not be willing to make those defenses? If that's the case? The pattern of Floyd's resume to this point, will continue. REAL CHAMPIONS MAKE REAL STATEMENTS! If you understand what you saw in Cotto's fights since Malignaggi, Quintana, Judah, and SSM you would have SEEN the ability, speed, defense, adjustability and STYLES(Cotto is natural southpaw but excellent Orthodox as well):yep Floyd wont back up Cotto as Mosley did, that's not how floyd gets it done:nono Floyd's gonna have to out box Cotto and he might not make it outside the eye of a Puerto Rican Hurricane. He'll be running for his life trying to fend the jab and combinations of Miguel. Purely specualtion until after PBF vs Hatton. Which is really a fight that should have happened at 140:yep Its a CERTAINTY however, that despite Mayweather's "Title" Claim, Cotto is the top opponent.:good
Kick rocks, WTF ??? Hows about Cotto just kicks ***** boys ass and we'll just leave it at that. Thank you and have a nice day !!!
To end this entire thread. I am a Floyd fan from the beginning. Cotto poses the type of threat that makes the fight 50/50. B/c of his jab, power and posture. Cotto hits hard with every single shot. He is going to hit you when he fights you. Even Mayweather. Early of course he will get shoulders and arms and elbows and partially land to the face but as the course of the fight goes Mayweather would be on the defensive rather then looking to score. This is an intriguing fight to me as I see Cotto as having all the tools to beat mayweather but Floyd is Floyd and he surprises me with the versatility he has and his toughness. Cotto is not a dumb fighter. The guy just outboxed Shane and made him look like he didnt know what he was doing in there. Floyd/Cotto is an even fight with no decisive outcome b/c of both fighters ability to do different things to offset one another.
Ok. My problem is the mentality that still doesnt see the Williams vs Cintron Winner. Its the same mentality that Team mayweather always applies. Ya know....RISK MANAGEMENT:yep Miguel Cotto is clearly first. The WillIAMS VS Cintron winner will have two belts and is clearly the Number two option. Both are worthy fights and will make money, ESPECIALLY COTTO:yep Let Floyd stand up be a champion and dispell the past patterns and live up to the legacy he THINKS HE HAS. There's many a historical example, let floyd leave his in the Ring.
