Cotto fighting only for money these days
    great business decision
the World middleweight title in a packed MSG
with thousands of Puerto Ricans cheering
    atmosphere will be electric
Miguel is a big underdog but Martinez is in his very very late prime

Damn, Cotto truly takes on anyone. He's a throwback fighter in the purest form these days. It is refreshing to see him do this while other fighters follow the path of least resistance.

I'd rather not see Martinez drained at 38 years of age. Hope he passes on this and just finds any other opponent.

Cotto's next fight should be Alvarez, who will be beat by Trout. He deserves an easy fight after fighting Mayweather and Trout back to back

If he fights Martinez, it should be his second to last fight. Cotto has the privilege to retire off a victory by handpicking his final fight. It's far from guarantee Cotto wins against Martinez, and he could even get a bad beating before being stopped.

Martinez should be down as he has a fascination with smaller men and personally got probs with Cotto. Cotto brushed him off at a boxing event in the past. Assuming Cotto isn't talking out of his ass about fight Martinez, all Martinez has to do is display drawing power.

This fight would happen in the first half of 2014. The final assumption is Martinez won't struggle to beat Murray prompting Cotto or Mayweather to sign this **** for later this year. Cotto won't fight Martinez if Floyd gets to Sergio first.

Here are Martinez's weights for his last 5 fights:

    Williams - 157¼
    Dzinziruk - 158¾
    Barker - 158
    Macklin - 157½
    Chavez Jr - 159

I don't think 157 is going to kill him if he agrees.

I would absolutely watch this fight. I know it's a pipedream BUT what if Sergio takes this fight to show he can fight at the weight? Then the Floyd / Sexy fight can happens?!?!?!?

Dreaming, I know. But still. . . what if

    He has averaged 158.1

This catchweight wouldn't kill him. Sergio isn't always coming in at 159 or 160 here.

Cotto would surprise people by challenging Martinez for however long it lasts imo.

Martinez has looked elite, but he also hasn't fought anyone with the talent level of Miguel Cotto.

The combination of the damage Chavez Jr inflicted in the final round, Martinez knee surgery, and the wear and tear from fighting Murray alters Sergio

cotto is coming off two wide decision UD losses.

and now he is asking to fight for the undisputed mw championship of which he will be instilled as a +900 dog?

wtf is wrong with you people?

cotto needs to beat a rosado, sturm, andy lee or chavez jr before there is any such talk of a fight with sergio.

who the **** does miguel cotto( personally im a big fan of his) think he is other than a guy coming off two wide decision losses?

the knee surgery was more of a cleaning than anything else.

prime pw and kp bring much, much, much more than anything cotto could offer at 160.

cotto cant offer much at 154 let alone 160.

    good grief.

"Does Sergio Martinez make money? Hahaha" - Cotto, just a couple years ago...

    How things change.

Wouldn't be a good fight for his health. He'd get stopped late.

Don't be shocked if it happens: DiBella knows Cotto sells tickets & networks will be interested, plus it's a low-risk cherry pick, at this point, for Sergio.

Definitely. Lou has always wanted to make this fight and if Cotto is down, I could see it happening, for sure.
