As badly as I wanted to see this fight awhile back, and as much as I want Martinez to get a high profile blockbuster fight, and a big win,

    I cant support this fight.

Cotto is coming straight off a loss to trout. Its just not a real credible fight for the middleweight champ, and top 5 p4p fighter in the world to be taking right now.

Martinez should focus his next fight on GGG, and then after that, win or lose, maybe try to get the Canelo/Trout winner.

The Cotto ship has sailed. Would be very easy pickings, big money, and lots of press though for Martinez should he take it. It would be almost impossible to pass up in this point of his career, but as a fan I cant back it.

the only elite boxers not stepping up are canelo and floyd.

and canelo is stepping up in april which just leaves floyd.

cotto currently does not deserve a championship fight at any weight class.

Cotto has a death wish if he takes this fight

Can someone already inform the guy that he is S-H-O-T, please?

:huh Why? He doesn't even belong up at 154, let alone 157. Martinez would make that weight a piece of ****. Cotto would be giving up huge advantages when he has full right to ask for it to take place at 154 <--- something Martinez would happily accept!

So no. He keeps his G status for making the bout harder than it already is.

But for the record, I don't think Cotto is serious about this. It's suicide, and he and his people around him know it.
