Martinez is and always was overrated. Yesterdays Cotto (who isn't nearly the fighter he once was) beats any version of Martinez. :hey :bart :deal

You're crazy pre inury Martinez tko's Cotto mid to late rounds, I don't see how Martinez Pavlik Williams and co = deep strong middleweight division for a long time having said that Martinez was clearly a skilled sharpshooter cpable of out skilling Cotto with ease.Martinez last fight should have been the one against Murray was clear in that fight injuries and age had caught up with him.

On what basis. He fights with his hands down, his power is overrated, he has a weak chin. Hes not that much bigger than Cotto. This is a guy who almost got stopped by JCC jr. Nuff said.

Never a better boxer. That's simply not true.

So you think Cotto would have also smashed Kelly Pavlik in his prime? Or outboxed Paul Williams at 160lbs? :rofl

To bad he didn't fight a prime Martinez so I guess we will only be able speculate. Good win for Cotto though.

Watch Martinez-Williams 1. Martinez is ultra aggressive, takes some bombs without flinching, and pulls the trigger often and from angles. He showed none of that in This fight or the Murray fight. Hes shot.

Opinions now that years have passed? Imo Cotto would have still snatched the w despite being more competitive

This was such a bad thread from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Martinez could barely even stand up he was done as a top fighter with the injuries.

A prime Martinez who beat Williams, Pavlik, would definitely beat Cotto at 160.

People always have this ignorant take when fighters defeat past prime opponents.

    He would not.

The version of Martinez who destroyed Pavlik or Williams would win every round on the way to a mid-rounds stoppage.

Nothing has sickened me more in boxing than Cotton being the A-Side diva against Martinez.

It's probably a turning point for me in my time as a boxing fan Vs my time as a UFC fan.
