Does anybody think that Pac or Floyd would look so good if they took a full fight plaster beating, had a falling out with their life long trainers, and had to accept a catch weight for their biggest fight in the midst a completely derailed career? You can say what you want, but it will never be known how much that plaster beating had a domino effect on his career.

I've never been a Cotto fan and I think his last 2 wins are a bit of a mirage. To the eye he looks as explosive and effective as ever but Rodriguez is not a world beater though hes never really been beaten like that outside Feliciano and Martinez was injured. Im not taking away the accomplishments Im just saying Id like to see this rejuvenated Cotto fight a healthy world class guy

My biggest gripe with Cotto right now is that he took the middleweight belt but seems to have zero intention of fighting the guys there but wants to keep the belt and stage 154lb fights for the 160 lb title denying capable guys like Golovkin, Quillin, Jacobs, Taylor, Lee and other middleweights who have been winning fights from competing for their weight classes championship. That's less Cottos fault and more to do with the politics of the fight game

Sure you can say all of Cottos titles were either vacant or off a guy who was hurt but he was beating Foreman before the knee gave out and Martinez was injured vs Murray and Murray couldn't do what Cotto did though I had Murray winning. Also if winning these titles was so easy why haven't other guys jumped 4 weights?

Last point since its a big Cotto discussion in here. I know Ill **** some of you off but I never thought Margarito cheated in their fight and he lost fair and square

What Alvarez got outclassed by Floyd only the judges make it close, Cotto give Floyd hell and manage to make Floyd look like He was on a fight not a pub bar dancing.

He was a bit chinny even before the beating and his balance and right hand were never all that good. He is a great fighter I was always a fan but he has his limitations and Margo fight or not he was always going to lose to Pac and Floyd.

I teach social studies to middle schoolers, and that is the exact response I get to anything remotely requiring intellectual rigor. :good

Like having to write a paragraph. Or think.

I agree with you, but Trout was definitely the fight after Floyd.

I don't think even Floyd would fight someone coming off a loss to Trout.

Agreed, but Floyd had Cotto ready to go in the last 2 rounds and couldn't hurt Alvarez. Cotto had a better overall performance for sure though, and the near KO was probably because he gave everything while Alvarez fought one of the worst gameplans I've ever seen this side of Cleverly-Bellew II or Khan-Alexander.

Whether the plaster beating was real or not, I agree that it took a lot out of his career. It's the premise of the thread.

Pac fight, take away the catch weight and have them trade trainers...Cotto wins that fight easier than Pac beat him. Imagine Pac getting completely the worse gameplan imaginable for Pac. It would like something like this, "ok Pac, what we're gonna do since we know you're not a nearly as good a boxer as he, is we're gonna box him the whole time. No matter what you do not come at him, and if he comes at you I want you to use your feet get away, and re-maintain a boxing position" That's what the equivalent of the ridiculousness that we witnessed when Santiago had Cotto brawl Pac, even after witnessing how easily Cotto's boxing beat Pac...

Canelo fought and arguably beat 2 prime top notch jr MW's in Lara and Trout. :deal

Cotto got his ass whooped when he stepped up in competition and fought a legit jr MW in Austin Trout.

Also I have a strong feeling that Canelo will be the only big name/draw that will fight Golovkin @ 160 lbs.:yep

I have a strong suspicion you're most likely unemployed and lounging around in your briefs with a can of Pabst beer and
    a pack of generic cigerettes!!!

You sound like a resentful, bitter hater !!!
