Miguel Cotto visited El Nuevo Dia Newspaper in Puerto Rico yesterday with his father to answer some of the verbal jabs thrown by OMB President Valcarcel.

Valcarcel has been daily putting out on the newspaper that this fight will be for the title, like it or not and even if not Cotto is still obligated to pay.....

Cotto is very upset, because its the principle of the situation. Cotto says that organizations shouldnt interrupt contract negotiations.

Cotto stated that when he and Manny agreed to the fight... they had already agreed on everything. Manny had 100% agreed on it being a non-title fight but it wasnt until OMB President Valcarcel saw how big the fight would be that he got greedy and started contacting Manny's team and stirring up stuff.

Cotto says that he see's no problem, the only problems being caused is by the OMB but that all they have to do is tell him where he can take the title because he dont want it, he will gladly take it to them with a nice thank you letter :rofl

Cotto's Dad said: "This guy is going to try to pimp his money any way he can, you will see he will find someone to give him $150,000 but it wont be us" LOL

I THINK COTTO IS RIGHT HERE!

The president is right, though. How can a fight be @ 145 that involves the champion not be a championship fight? Cotto may be popular, but he is nowhere even in the same STRATOSPHERE as Pacman right now as far as being a big-name draw. What kind of precedent does that set that a fighter can place non-title fights in their negotiations?

I see Cotts's point in that he and Pac agreed it would be a non title fight. But I don't agree that the fight she be a non title fight.

the champ is fighting within his belt's weight limit, therefore the belt should be on the line. Lewis fought something like 25-26 title defenses. thats the way it should be.

Because if its at 145 it doesnt follow the rules of the champions division. The weight limit is 147 not 145. There is no sub category of the welterweight division. I wouldnt pay the sanctioning fee at all.

The WW division is from 141-147. I don't see why the title shouldn't be on the line....this is also a once in a lifetime opportunity for Cotto. He gets to face off vs. the best in the world in a fight he definitely has a chance to win. I don't know, I just wish the drama would end so we could get this **** and all the details that go along with it signed, sealed, and delivered.

Just like Manny has to protect his future so does Cotto. If the ****in belt meant so much to Manny ****in allow the 2lbs... It Manny wants history chase it and earn history. Don't dodge and water it down. Earn da *****.

This is hilarious. Cotto got this belt by fighting a domestic level fighter after Williams vacated it. Let's also not forget that he was coming off a knockout loss. Despite the fact that the belt was completely tainted, Cotto proudly wore it. In fact, Cotto has gotten all 3 of his belts after someone else discarded it/ was forced to discard it. Now he wants to throw a hissy fit because the WBO is making him defend his tainted belt when he's fighting in his own division. Ok Miguel, vacate the title. You'll just eventually pick up someone elses' trinket that gets vacated and tossed aside. You know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
