    Money!

Pac took 33% and fight DLH 17 lbs. over a 9 month span (Manny could only go up to 12). JMM took 30k over 750k for principle.

Asking for a belt to be on the line is a major bonus and history making if Pac wins.

There are many different situations where belts were on the line and fights were at catchweights, this isn't the first time.

It was Cotto who asked for 145 and got it, Pac and his team wanted 143. So since he got what he wanted he might as well put the title on the line.

There are no side deals considered in title fight rules. Like you said there is weight limits. If the fighter chooses to come in below the weight limit thats fine, if he comes in over its not. Are they allowed to make a side deal with their promoters yes, but thats not fighting under the true rules of a championship welterweight fight, which allows a fighter to come in at a limit of 147 pounds.

Varg, I'm a fan of the sport. I watch a lot of fights. Cotto has been fighting on ESPN and HBO since like 2002. He only moved up to WW at the end of 2006. How could I make an objective criticism about a fighter if I know nothing about him?

I don't know Cotto, and I certainly do not hate him. However, I would have no problem if you did put me on your ignore list. I feel like I'm dealing with women with some of you guys. The constant bitching and moaning because you don't like what I say about some guy you don't even know is sickening. So please, feel free to ignore me. I will have no problem dealing with less bitchassness.

Then please, put me on your ignore list. That would be one less creepy Cotto worshiper stalking me around this forum and bitching like a little girl.

You need to stop your hero worship of another man. It's a boxing forum. I don't have time to continuously suger coat everything. If you want to have a real discussion, that's fine. I have no problem being fair and objective. If you just want to whine and cry because your feelings are hurt, then please direct girlish antics elsewhere.

Wow Varg, you're really losing it. It's not that serious. Think about it, you don't know me and you don't know Cotto. Why does it bother you so much what I say about him? Again, I'm not going to censor myself on a message board. You're better off putting me on your ignore list.

Varg, that highlighted part was written by Kirk. I must've accidently included it in my response when I quoted him.

I find this **** all funny. Its a message board dickface. You cant read the tone I have in anything. You can imply from as many connotations as you like, but I just like giving your ass a hardtime so that maybe you'd lighten up. It worked on NeckBreakinAiken, I figured it might work on you.

But seeing as how you constantly "*****" about other peoples "bitchassness" it seems like your the only one here getting defensive.

All this is a hyperbolic post to your Cotto-hatin' ass. Im not stalking you. Your in a ****in' Cotto thread...you thought I WOULDNT read this ****. Seems to me like your the only stalking Cotto. You come into almost EVERY Cotto thread and talk ****. In which I give you a hard time for it, and you cry and moan about how I "cry and moan". The only bitchassness I see if coming from your ass.

"Dont censor Varg"...Please Varg...anything but that...

****in' woman. Just stop hating for a day and breathe my friend. Its all in good spirits and I enjoy giving you a hard time :good

Right here lefthook, you just stated my case. By agreeing to a catchweight of 145 lbs, both fighters are choosing to come in below the limit. The WBO only cares that they don't come in above 147. So if they both stick to the catchweight, they will still be within the rules. Now, if Cotto comes in at say 146, he will face no penalty from the WBO. However, pursuant to the contract, he would owe Pacquiao a fine.

Isnt the only reason he agreed to the catchweight because he didnt want his title on the line?? Once the other side insisted it be, Cotto said no, correct?
Initially it wasnt a title fight.

I believe 65-35 is fine in this case - it's still millions and the most Cotto has ever had.

If Cotto truly believes he can win it would almost be worth fighting for free as the potential paydays he opens up if he wins are MASSIVE.

All and all its an advantage for Pac to force a fighter to come down in weight to diminish some of his strength. Cotto has already had problems making weight in the junior welter, and he seems to struggle still coming in at 147. Its really not fair in my opinion and Roach is clearly concerned if he is so adament at making Cotto come down. If Pac wants to fight a smaller guy go fight at junior welter. If you want to call yourself a welterweight champion, it would suck to have a side note attached to your title that says the fight was fought under the 147 limit because we tried to get an advantage over our opponent. If Roach wants him to win multiple titles, do it correctly or go to another division.

It's not fine cause Cotto have a fan base of many puerto rican fans and alot of other fans that aren't just puerto ricans. Cotto is a draw and is the champion so how come Cotto only getting 35 percent? I think it's ridicules.

And whats wrong of Pacquiao getting 33 percent of the purse vs the greatest ppv draw of all times in De la hoya? See Oscar can get away with giving Pacquiao 33 percent of the purse cause Oscar is the biggest draw maybe of all times while Pacquiaio isn't anywhere near Oscar draw power level. So again why should Cotto accept 35 percent of the purse if he's the champion with big fan base and is a draw himself?
