If what Miguel is saying is true that the fight contractually was not for the WBO title then I can understand why he is mad but if Pacquiao or Arum is willing to pay the sanctioning fee in full then there should'nt be no problem.

Not sure, i would have to assume that he hasnt been told that the fees would be payed for him. Sometimes fans think that both sides know the issues when one fighter will say i never heard that. If pac and arum are willing to pay the fees... i have no clue what the problem is. :good

Thats exactly right... the belt in fact doesnt add anything to the fight because the belt is worthless quite frankly bigreg. cotto isnt the champion, i dont see how people dont understand this... cotto is no more the champion then margarito is right now. Hes just an elite, top welterweight fighter, and the former welterweight champion right now... but Mosley is THE champ right now, and is the person pac should fight if he wants credit in being the champion in -blank- many divisions... This is a great fight, worthless trinkets (made worthless by the fact on how they were won, and that mosley is the real champion) adds NOTHING to this fight.

Pac and roach though want to feast on this chance to become a welterweight 'champion' Again, without letting the defenders fight at 147 and without fighting the real champ...

doesnt matter though because they wont win.. lol

Indeed BigReg.... they can no doubt force cotto to defend his belt as they are already doing. In fact i will even say i think if cotto fights at welterweight while renting (because thats what it is... renting) a trinket then the trinket should probably be on the line... i just think its stupid he has to defend his belt in a fight he cant even weigh 147 in... people can say "well he shouldnt have agreed to fight at 145 then", well pac shouldnt have agreed to fight for no title then.

They are eather a problem with boxing, or not a problem with boxing....
a crook who is good every once an awhile is still a crook.

Making such a big deal over a worthless trinket like this complete drama fest thats been going on is a showcase on whats wrong with boxing, seems like cottos the only one who realises the thing is worthless and the people are crooks.... pacs just trying to take advantage of it. Wont matter anyways as he wont win, but still sorta low seeing as how he agreed on the fight AS IS, which didnt include cotto putting the belt on the line.

Personally, i dont care what happens.... as long as they fight. But pac is the one who agreed to the fight in the first place...

If cotto doesnt vacate the belt... then yes, his belt should be on the line, i still think Pac and roach are pulling a ***** move, and half the fans who are pissing on Cotto are being hypocrits... as next month ill hear just how bad we need to stop putting importance on alphabet straps.

But back to your main point BigReg, which is should Cottos belt be on the line or not.... and indeed, it probably should. Thats not my problem.....

    My problem is

    - Pac not letting cotto fight at 147 but wants the belt on the line anyways
    - Fans pissing on Cotto for not wanting to pay the fees, even calling him scared (the guys fought Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, and Judah... but hes scared of Pac??? hes the one that has agreed on almost every stipulation to make this fight happen, hardly a move of someone trying to get out of a fight because their scared)
    - Pac wanting to become a welterweight champion but not letting the champions weigh 147, and not fighting the real champion (Mosley) when mosleys willing to fight at 142 lol!
    - Fans going from 'oh the abc's are the scourge of modern boxing' their worthless'' to 'beating cotto is worthless if the strap isnt on the line'... please :patsch Cottos name and scalp are worth more then the trinket he holds, the only reason it even has validity is because of him. And to prove that, if jennings would have beaten some other fighter for the vacant belt, which win do fans think would have been considered greater, a win over the WBO champion Jennings.... or a strapless cotto? gee.... thats a toughy.

anyways... i see your point BigReg, and personally i cant say that your wrong in the sense that, yes... if cotto fights within the welterweight limit and has the strap, then yes they can force him to put the strap on the line, as it seems they are. Doesnt mean the whole mess isnt a complete joke.... and Cotto imo is the only one whos got his mind right.

Let's forget the weight issue for a moment. Let's say that the belt may be Cotto's main or biggest barganing chip to maybe get some more money in last minute re-negotiation. The WBO pres is intefering with ongoing negotiations because as far as I know the fight isn't signed.

The WBO should say that they would sanction the fight and THATS IT.

This isnt for a the lineal belt. Thats Shane Mosley. So this doesnt concern me. But if Cotto doesnt want to pay sanctioning fees than so be it, **** the ABC organizations.

Kirk, I don't think Pacquiao really cares about the belt either...this is what he said...

(There is no championship belt on the line (or chase for the fight), because it's at a catch weight of 145 lbs, 2 lbs below the 147 WW limit. Even though there is no belt on the line, it is still worth it because my fight with Cotto will be for No. 1, P4P and this will be a sure slugfest (hitting), no running, no backing up or chasing.)

Pac fans complained and wanted it for a title, and two days later it turned into this...

“The people want this fight. And they want it to be a title fight. So, let’s make it a title fight,” said Pacquiao.

I couldn't believe it either people making so much fuss about the WBO...

I said this b4 and I will say again. This is not about the weight. If you go by weigh, Cotto should come to this weight in at around 144-146 anyways. Why??? Because he will need all the speed and stamina he can get. This is about the organization disrespecting Cotto. Pacquiao is a star, no doubt about that. But the facts are, his only fight at the 147 division was against a DLH who was not even ranked at 147lbs anymore. Still, they are allowing the "CHALLENGER" to make all the rules. They don't care about the champ. They just want money.
But I also said before the Margarito/Cotto fight that I didn't think Bob Arum care much about Cotto. Today we have more evidence of that fact. On Manny's say you can see: Manny, Roach, Varcarcel, etc.... In Cotto's side you only see Cotto and his Dad. WHERE THE HELL IS BOB ARUM???? WHAT IS HE DOING FOR COTTO??????

cotto weighed in 146 @ weigh in.

cotto weighed ___lbs @ fight night.

cotto won that belt at 147.

    Nov 14, 2009:

both fighters weighed 145 @ weigh in

each fighter weighed ____lbs @ fight night.

STILL _____ fighter will be winning 147 belt!

Winner will be defending this title STILL @ 147lbs limit. It will be on the two fighters agreeing on what weight (<=147lb) they will fight, not the boxing organization, (nor the fans:D). As long as a boxing organization sees to it that these two fighters come equal or less that the prescribed weight limit, it's ok. anyway, the champion will be paying the sanctioning fee with or without having the belt on the line.

PAC needs to pay for all these shits... Very good motivation for Cotto to totally destroy PAC...;)
