"We don't know yet," he said. "Everything I do will be the best for me. That is what I will do. If that is fighting Gennady Golovkin, I will do it. If not, he can take the middleweight title. He can take it." -cotto. Source (ESPN)

I always thought cotto fighting at 160 is a big stretch for him. But the guy is coming off as a diva more and more with every interview.

He already skipped on canelo because he was "not to be demanded of" then he left top rank because he was "disrespected" , and now with the last interview he gave he's basically saying he's not going to fight him. Which is fine but if he plans on keeping title at 160, then he should defend it against the best at 160 and not look to defend it at a cw against 154 or a cherry picked 160lb fighter.

No he'd rather fight Rios, Bradley, or Khan for the LINEAR MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE....as much as I loved cotto in his prime his whole middleweight run is really making me not like him

I'd give him a pass if he just fights a middleweight, winner of Lee - Quillin, hell just fighting a Golovkin leftover (Murray, Geale) would be much more respectable than if he accepts a tim Bradley, Brandon rios, or amir khan

He didn't say he won't fight him, he said he might. He also said said if he doesn't fight him, he can have the title. Complaining about that seems a bit whiny.

If he fights Khan for it and Khan wins..... Khan Golovkin.... that power meets that chin

    That's DISGUSTING!!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Khan took a fight with GGG neither

    But then again......

LOL! I like Khan but Golovkin would knock him clean out in the weigh in staredown, let alone the actual fight

What I find most disheartening about Cotto's statement is that GGG is not getting any younger. The clock is ticking. Cotto has what he wants so he doesn't care about running the clock. GGG has earned the right to fight for the title now.

And this talk of Cotto fighting at a catch weight, in my mind, should disqualify him for the title. If you are the title holder you have to fight opponents in that weight division. Anything else would not be defending the MW title.

Who's to say it means little to him? He is simply going to decide what are the best fights for him and take those fights.

When will the WBC revoke the mandatory ? how long can cotto stall for Floyd/Pac rematch ? i think he will want to fight either of them on Sep (probably the winner) let them have another lineal weight title that they dont have.

Cotto should say my health come first. Ali was forced in to some fights he shouldn't have late in his career, I'm not making that mistake.

It doesn't mean he doesn't care about the title, it just means it is not the be all and end all to him. There could be better options out there for him such as Canelo or the Floyd/Pacman winner.
