Cotto won't fight GGG and none of us would in his position either.
Boxing in the modern climate is about fighting the lowest risk for the highest amount of money, Golovkin shouldn't factor in Cotto's calculations.
Not to mention Cotto isn't even a middleweight, he was just well match against an aging and ailing Martinez - who had lost his best attribute, his movement/athleticism. If I was Cotto I'd be targeting Chavez or Canelo, both winnable fights and both more lucriative fights than Golovkin.

What's with this sentiment: Cotto has fought everyone and never ducked so now he cannot be questioned for ducking.

That's fantastic logic. I want to play.

All my life I never killed anyone so now after stabbing a homeless guy 25 times through a sleeping bag, I should not have my 40 year resume of not killing even questioned, RIGHT?

One more point to add. If GGG moves up in weight without getting THE title then he would achieve NOTHING. There are folks out there who scream out of their lungs that GGG fought no one and holds a PAPER title. Unifying 160 titles is a legacy, it's history, he can create a history, something that old timers were doing.

Jumping through divisions getting easy ABC titles without trying to unify them is a Broner route. And for me it's like playing a game at the beginner level - you getting praise but only so much. You won't be remembered in history books because there is NO SUBSTANCE.

I think it's quite simple. Cotto has fought some tough opposition and taken on some risky fights so it doesn't make sense to accuse him of ducking.

I got the idea that a whole lot of people don't want Golovkin to get to the lineal title. And they don't want him to break records at Middleweight, because then they would have to recognise him as a truely great fighter and that's just not done for a guy from Central Asia.

As long as they all run away from him as if he's a leper, they can still dismiss him with the stupid "Who has he fought?" bull.
He should have gotten his shot years ago, and if Cotto runs away they should indeed vacate the Ring belt an toss it up not between just 1 and 2, but #1 GGG and the highest ranked guy that has the cojones to actually face him for it.

you prob dont know but ggg has been chasing cotto like a hoe and it turns out that as of today ggg is cottos best financial choice available for his next fight in june, and while ggg keeps calling him out you get nothing but crickets from cotto... if cotto had canelo or floyd available i will understand but right now ggg brings the most money out of the fights available for him specially since he burned some bridges by going with roc nation...

If he hasn't turned down any offers then I don't think he is ducking, yet.

He may choose to "duck" GGG and vacate his title but I don't think that would even be a real duck. Just a guy realizing he doesn't belong at MW/the reward for fighting someone so much naturally bigger is not worth the risk.
