Come to think of it, Cotto is probably making a mistake by holding on to the mw belt as negotiating tool for Canelo. Matter of fact, it's probably a big part of the reason he doesn't want to fight Cotto. If he wins then he gets pressured to fight three G.

im cool if cotto vacates before even defending his title, but if he thinks he is big enough to defend the title then why not GGG?

The way Roach is running his mouth is a disgrace too. Get your fighter to step up or STFU.

That is exactly how it works in microcosm.

Keep Cotto away from GGG and no lineal title.

Get GGG to move up or down and the streak of MW defenses gets haulted.

whats good for cotto is not being ktfo by golovkin. cotto needs to give up the middleweight title which he has no business having in the first place. cotto should fight canelo at 154 and then retire w a lot of money in his pockets.

You jump through the hoops of fans and other fighters when you're on your way up, to get known and make it where you want to be. Once your to the top it's because you've earned the right to be there, and other fighters need to wait, and you've built a big enough fan base not to care about the hoops of a few haters.

No one is denying that Cotto has earned his accolades and is a very deserving, accomplished fighter.

But why hold on to something that you have no intent of defending?

I'm sure he is thinking of the belt as good negotiating tool = more money. I think he wants specifically for negotiating with Canelo but, I'm now thinking he is better off without it, Canelo may be ducking him because he does not want that belt and the pressure of fighting three G with it. So I agree he should vacate it, but I'm not gonna stress things beyond my control, never do, and neither should anyone else.

Canelo didn't duck Cotto. Cotto stalled the negotiations in hopes of landing a Mayweather fight (147 lb fighter while Cotto himself is a lineal 160 lb champ).

You say that as if it's fact when nothing official of negotiations for a Floyd Cotto rematch were ever confirmed, it was all rumors at a time of rumors. All we can do is logically speculate with the known facts. And that is, Canelo gave Cotto a premature cutoff date so that he can make a fight with...Kirkland?? He knew he should've waited to find out if Floyd Pac was going down like Cotto did, why didn't he?

We can speculate that maybe he did not want for Cotto to have a case to make for a June date in Madison Square, or that he really does not want the mw belt and the pressure of fighting three G after, or least likely that he is simply ducking Cotto. When I said he is ducking Cotto I was only saying so in simple form, truth is, he ducked/is ducking something, either, a venue, a belt, or Cotto, which is one of those is what is unknown.

So Canelo fought the guy that beat Cotto (trout) for peanuts, but yet he's afraid to step into the ring with Cotto for boatloads of cash? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
