In this instance we are now obligated to give Cotto the benefit of doubt that the same poeple did not give KT?

In a public case such as this we have to go with what is being released to the press. Canelo openly said he agreed to all of Cotto's demands. Mind you, Canelo wanted to fight Cotto way back when he himself was a green novice. Now he is a seasoned veteran, in his physical prime and brimming with confidence, as illustrated by his back to back fights against Trout and Lara. All this, coupled with the fact that usually outspoken Cotto has not publically denied Canelo's claims of compliance at the negotiation table, leads me to believe that the foul play was initiated by Cotto.

And lest we forget, Cotto made Martinez jump through all the hoops imaginable when they were negotiating a fight, another fact that Cotto himself did not dispute during their heated face off.
