Cotto's left hook is very short, accurate and because he doesn't **** his hand for it, it's a semi-disguised powerpunch. With Miguel, his man should know that something is coming, but when it's that fast, and looks the same as a jab until it's coming, it's hard to duck block or roll. Only an excellent technician with other great attributes or extraordinary speedster is beating him in my view.

Here is a cracking video with plenty of Cotto left hooks in it:

If you don't agree this is the best punch in boxing currently, what is your pick?

It is a brilliant punch. He can also throw it well off the counter. Can double up on it, and switch from head to body effortlessly also.

I like the right hand lead of Floyd Mayweather as well, one of the best fighters in history at delivering this punch, even better than Roy IMO. Very fast, very hard to stop, can counter extremely effectively with it as well. Gets up on the ball of the foot before throwing, then either springs off after throwing or keeps his hands up to avoid getting tagged.

The uppercut of Andre Berto is a thing of beauty also, although not quite on the same level, and not landed with anywhere even close to the same consistency, or the same level of fighters.

Love the uppercut of Zab Judah. Brilliant punch, very hard to see coming.

I rather like Oscar's jab, though he's falling off now.

If we're talking all time, Jones' lead left hook needs a mention. Guys new it was coming, it was flashy, not disguised, and they still couldn't dump it.

The Joe Louis right at mid-range is perfect.

Zab Judah's counter left is one of the best, when a punch can catch tszyu, mayweather, spinks and cotto, you know it is a good punch!

Jones left hook is my favourite punch of all time. He could throw it from every angle, in every situation. 5 times in a second or leaping from a mile away. It had power, speed and was very hard to see. A thing of beauty.

That Cotto left hook is a bone-breaker. It's a true PfP weapon and his best -- and probably only -- chance to stop Margarito.

The Klitschko jab doesn't end fights but prevents the other guy from getting into his gameplan, and I love David Haye's overhand right.

It's my favorite, too. It's a punch that no one should attempt to throw, as the risk is too great. But Roy not only threw it without fear, he rarely got caught, and he uncoiled it with KO power.

Everyone knows about the one that landed in Griffin II, but the early Thomas Tate KO was another prime example.

JCC chavez didnt even lean into the punch, and he was just as effective if not more. Cotto looks to exaggerated, but hey it works. Chavez the master of the left hook to the body!!
