Wlad's hook off the jab is the best punch in boxing. it's disguised so well and is a very fluid shot. simply incredible.

Cotto is just a brilliant technical puncher. My jaw dropped the first time I saw him throw punches back when started at 140lbs. His ability to have that kind of positioning to throw those powerful shots without even telegraphing them is amazing.

...One of my favorite Cotto punches was the one that he dropped Randal Baily with. Baily was throwing a right uppercut and Cotto was there smelling him out, picked up on it and fired a blistering compact right hand so perfectly placed on the guys chin - Baily didn't know wtf hit him :smoke How a boxer can smell that out and time a *counter* punch all within a fragment of a second is what makes this sport the science!

Totally agree, his trainer said his power comes from the legs and upper torso and now using the new shoes with a better grip everybody knows Margo have the better chin we will find out how well he could take those body shots. The video shows clearly his left is the best in the business.

Have to say Pacquiao's straight left. The speed, power, and accuracy of that makes it a perfect punch. probably the best straight left ever. Hagler mostly relied on the right hook and Whitaker was more accurate but had no where near the power.

Cotto's hook, Wlad's right cross, Pavlik's right cross, Cintron's right cross, Vasquez' hook, and Darchynian's straight left are all near the top.

I would have to agree. It is much more versatile and powerful than Wlad's jab.

The best single punch in all of boxing? LOL, I really don't know about that. De La Hoya still probably has a more devastating, destructive left hook than Cotto's. By far. I don't recall seeing Cotto decapitate anyone with his left hook the way Oscar has on so many occasion. Cotto needs to land about 80 of those left hooks to do the business. Bad joke. Pacquiao's straight, Kessler's straight, Haye's overhand, Klitchsko's jab, Winky's jab, Oscar's jab/left hook, Vasquez' hook, ect, are all better punches.

Vladimir Klitschko has the best left hook in boxing history, check out his left hook against Shufford! Yes, the shortest left hook in boxing history also. Five left hooks in a row stopped Austin. He can throw double left hooks, triple , etc., hook off the jab.

Kostya tszyu's right hand, when thrown with malice, it was a weapon of mass destruction, you could watch him time it, after sorting the target out, finding his range and adjusting his sights accordingly. Taking into account distance, movement, humidity, altitude and wind factor, he would unleash hell upon the opponents chin. A thing of absolute beauty!

sorry, he's probably not really current now is he? but still..........

The best, I don't know. Certainly "his" best and a very good one by every boxing standard: compact, accurate, fast, powerful and not telegraphed.

Its a pretty fantastic punch, every last ounce of body weight is transfered into it.....very devastating.......there are others as comendable in my opinion....
    Kelly Pavliks straight right
    Zab Judah or Margos uppercut
Diaconu has a sweet left hook too:yep

Hopkin's inside right hand which has caught and dropped two P4P/HOF boxers still rates a mention.

Wlad's powerful jab is the most dominant punch in boxing, as in he can win fights against anyone with it.

Floyd Mayweather Jr also throws pretty effective inside shots, using his hands to shield the vision and pump to the body.

Cotto is one of them fighters you get the impression he is really living the life of a fighter

Hatton and them have booze ups and fried breakfasts and long breaks of inactivity between fights where he is going on lads holidays, down the pub, safaris in Africa, Crusies in the Carribean, and organising Wayne Rooneys Stag Do.

Cotto is more simple than that - he was a father of three when he was like 17/18 years old - just a humble family man.

Knuckles down - never out of shape - or ballonning in weight between fights - he is a class fighter - and he has this inner steel in him where is very strong mentally.

Lots of guys have those qualities though.

You never see Margarito out of shape, nor Floyd Mayweather Jr, nor Wladimir Klitschko.

Bernard Hopkins has to be the biggest example of living the healthy life to extend your abilities as a fighter.

Pavlik, Calzaghe, even Jermain Taylor are guys that always seem to be in superb shape and not ones to throw it away between fights.
