One other twist Birmingham could bring is making Cotto's southpaw bursts more effective. Not saying he'll turn him into one full time or anything silly like that, but Miguel does like throwing the left with power sometimes. Birmingham knows a few things about lefties.

Dude is also a damn good trainer for conditioning from everything I've read and seen.

    He'd be a good choice.

Yep totally agree, as i said in another thread Birmingham would be a great choice, ideally i would have wanted Cotto to go with Mustafa Muhammad or Roach but Birmingham is just as good.

Excellent, I think he may be the perfect addition to team Cotto. Dan could really help Cotto's defense, activity, and like BlueApollo pointed out, he might even sharpen up Cotto from the southpaw stance. I just hope they get along well.

Very good news for the Cotto camp.

Now if only we could get Kelly and Jack Leow to start popping each other in their face, we might see two new and improved young gun champions.

Kelly vs Jack might be a more even match up that you would expect. Jack has proved to be a tough guy in the past. :deal

Know who else is based out of florida and once was a previous suggestion for a replacement trainer by Arum?

McGirt! how great would that be! (sarcasm)

Arum has compiled a list of 6 trainers for Cotto to choose from and they're meeting on the 14th for Cotto to choose the replacement. (the scene)

Cotto is a solid clincher, problem is he just wasnt strong enough to clinch against Margarito.

I think training camp for elite fighter going to a championship fight should be between 80 and 90 days. Cotto was starting his camp this week and now this happens. I DON'T LIKE THIS!!!! They should postpone this fight or I see him losing to Clottey.

I always wanted to see more lefty work from Cotto. I think switching up between the two stances more would really confuse the other fighter.

Pavlik used to say anymore than 6 weeks and you started to tear down the body. Once he got his titles, he went longer, but has decided to go back to the 6 weeks after the Bhop fight, cuz he was right the first time.

Agreed, he's always looked very smooth when he switches. I might be getting my fights mixed up, but I think he started getting Quintana going when he turned southpaw.
