In all honesty the old Cotto would have completely demolished Yuri Foreman. They're just not in the same class. But Cotto doesn't look like the same guy anymore. It was an okay performance, but he gave Yuri way too much respect and he seemed to avoid going to the body for the majority of the fight which was strange. Once he unleashed that left hook at the end, it was over.

I hate to say it but I have to agree now that Cotto is looking like damaged goods. He looked much better against Pacquiao for those first 4 rounds. I like the fact that Emmanual Steward has him using his jab alot and fighting on his toes, but Cotto has always been a stalking/power puncher, and a great body puncher. I didn't see any of that tonight. You shouldn't change a fighters style, only make him better. But we'll see how he looks in his next fight.

it could be something to do with cotto fighting at a weight he never has before after a brutal loss.

  3. True but sometimes you can't go in 100% after taking previous brutal beating. Cotto can take bucketloads of confidence out of this fight.

Yuri's a lot taller than him and has a bigger reach....and has been fighting at that weight for a long time....makes sense that he didnt try go out and take him out straight away....remember it was cotto's first fight at 154....he didnt have no warm up...he went straight for the belt....

also he has a new trainer who advised him to keep to the jab and not to search for the body

No Gander. You are finally waking up to what we told you ALL ALONG... Margarito RUINDED him! :deal

Now he may still be a decent fighter. He may still have flashes of brilliance. He will never be the same. :bart

Pac knew what he was doing when they chose him and not Mosley. :deal

which completely baffles me. I would of thought that the main focus would have been the body, since Foreman is such a mover. I hope Steward isn't trying to turn Cotto into a jabbing robot like he does with his other fighters.

i think cotto can be brought back if they give him a few collazo/quintana level fights to bring his confidence back.

Margarito didn't ruin him. He looked like the old cotto in destroying Jennings, and he faced a very tough physical/stylistic matchup against Clottey, yet still looked way better then tonight. And then against Pacquiao for 4 rounds he looked pretty good too. Margarito may have started the process but Pacquiao may have truly 'ruined' him.

I just thought Cotto lacked a killer instinct for having a guy that hurt he really didnt press

He was being smart and cautious instead of running in like a charging bull stupidly in his first fight at a higher weight. He would have stopped Foreman without the leg injury.
