At least he didn't open up those cuts again.

A very good thing for him at this point.

Damn right Cotto is not the same anymore. He is slightly heavier!

But seriously, does it matter? He keeps winning doesnt he?

I mean, EVANDER HOLYFIELD is still fighting and actually winning sometimes! Im pretty sure Cotto can still cope just fine.

If you ask me he is just fighting differently under Steward...

while it may be true that the old cotto may have gotten yuri out of there earlier, i also think that the old cotto would have gotten hit a lot more then this cotto. cotto was following emmanuels instructions to a tee which is what he is supposed to do.
the great fighters are able to change there styles as they get long in the tooth, cottos on his way to reinventing himself.

He was doing more damage before the injury, I agree, I'm saying that he would have finished him regardless. There was a slight carefulness and calmed pace shot-picking that allowed him to be smart, which differs slightly from the old Cotto, and I simply think he was taking a safer route doing damage rather than trying to maul him with body shots like we've seen before, such as Cotto-Bailey.

Agreed, imagine if they had ESB all through the last century. Think of all the brutal, 15+ round wars the legends were in... they'd be handing out "shot" labels left right and centre. Cotto looked good, he was more measured and mature. Look at another Steward fighter, Wlad looked more exciting and explosive against Ray Mercer than against Chagaev or Chambers, But does that mean current Wlad is inferior and would lose to the old Wlad?

I think anynone who thinks Cotto is just a stalker/power puncher needs to go back and watch Cotto at 140 when he was decimating opponents. He used to be very active on his feet, very elusive and his balance/combinations is what gave him the power to knock opponents out. Just go back and watch.

It didn't seem to help that his gloves looked like pillows.
