Well it's been known about Cotto's car accident and how he injured his right shoulder years ago and needed a recent surgery again. Steward notice once he became Cotto's trainer he barely used his right and seem bother at times when he did train. Steward said he has never met a fighter like Cotto who never complain about anything esp. when it came to physical problems or injuries with his body even when ask. Most fighters will complain if they had any pain. Cotto finally confess to Steward after the Foreman fight his shoulder has been bothering him and pain for almost four years. Steward said he believes Cotto has face the likes of Mosley, Judah, and Margarito, with good movement and with one hand. Steward will now begin to improve Cotto's right. Another thing why this seperates Cotto from the rest, from facing the best to never complaining about anything.

Yes, it affected him. Many people thought Cotto's careers was finished after that accident. And that was rigth at thhe beginning. He could use it more. And he cant still win some fights. However, I don't expect to suddenly see Super Cotto.

That even ****s it up worse. The lead hand is used most of the time in boxing especially the jab. Cotto's best punch is the jab. Having his weaker hand in the back made him less inclined to develop it.

Sometimes they say changing trainers is a bad thing, but a guy like Steward is what a quiet and reserve Cotto needed. Hopefully his right will improve with Stewards help and Cotto could get more comfortable in the ring.

I think whats more important than his right is the desire to be hungry again and have all his personal problems taken care. Cotto has admitted his heart in boxing wasnt the same like it was and now says he is focus once again and has improve his relationship with his family. Thats very important in boxing. His fight with Manny was all wrong for him at the time with all the situations he was going through and not even being fully heal from his Clottey fight. Trust me with Steward in his side to help him in boxing, but most importantly when it comes to the negotiating table Steward brings plenty of experience and help. Cotto will be surprising a lot of people in the next two years.

Cotto's best punch is his left hook to the body. He overcommits on his jab way too often, which is good againt a guy who is easy to hit but against a skilled fighter, not a good idea.

I def. remember Hearns. Watching the Hearns, Hagler, Benitez is what made me love boxing as I grew and seen their tapes.

it was actually his own fault that he never got it treated, just recently he had the surgery to correct the problem and he says his arm is feeling as good as ever now.

Not as versatile as his jab. He has to get his feet planted to do that. Steward also thinks Cotto's best is his jab.

Didnn't you also pull a Cottoe with a shoulder injury, Alok?

Do you see the point, fighting big names with this problem and never spoke about it? It took Steward to bring out the truth. We have guys like Toney and Hopkins that never feel they lost a fight in their life. While we have a Cotto whos been fighting with this pain and even perhaps gotten cheated in one of his fights, has yet to make a huge cry and excuses like so many others.

yeah i did but mine isn't as severe as cottos, he needed a full shoulder replacement after his accident, i had a cartilage tear around the socket.
