Was not really active? He fought the month after Cotto beat Mosley. So repeated shots to the crotch is "fighting like a man"? I guess you fight different than most men. I don't care he beat those guys. I am talking about the circumstances.

Now I don't like Puertoricans? WTF kind of idiot are you? This has nothing to do with him being from PR. I like Cotto.

i dont think his skills went down hill i just think when he stepped up the competition certain flaws in his game got exposed because he was fighting more elite fighters who were capable of taking advantage of these flaws. The guy has a porous defense always has he was bound to get found out sooner or later high volume guys like margarito and pacman were a recipe for disaster for him

i dont understand, how is that a fighter wins a fight by having a chin? Does punched margo with everything he had? yes. But Cotto lost that fight because he couldnt stayed away from the ropes, not because Margo had a chin. Not to mention the fact that Margo probably had bricks in his gloves.

yes a chin can win a fight because if you can take a punch but your opponent cant its over that simple why you think martinez is dangerous because his power knocks people out. how did he beat paul williams the second time? Paul williams was out boxing him till he got knocked the love out

Cotto doesn't box any worse now than he did for the Torres fight, he's just punching at stronger targets

Why does every thread have to be derailed by these Floyd loving ***gots?

Or Pacquiao lovers for that matter.

Floyd didn't have the urge to fight a lot of guys, including Cotto. Deal with it.

Another factor in his performance is speed. I think Cotto isn't as fast as when he fought at 140. Age and brutal war has taken a tow on his body.

Yup, + his reflexes aren't quite as sharp and his movements aren't as crisp. He's definitely still a good fighter, but noticeably on the decline imo.

Cotto is already on a decline. His body has taken considerable beating and starting to show it.

Yes definitely, Cotto's fighting skills is not like before.

. . . but so is Margo . . . so it's still an interesting fight if they meet again.

I would want a Cotto win.

True, and Cotto was also willing to trade along the ropes in the early going, instead of trying to get out of there or clinch. Another thing I remember is that Cotto didn't commit to any type of body attack. He was mostly headhunting, Margo being an easy target was too hard to resist. He thought he had the power to knock Margo out and he paid the price for it. nayway, I don't think his skills have deteriorated too much. He pretty much schooled Mayorga without too much trouble. He just looks like he's lost a step with age. Happens to all fighters, doesn't mean he's shot. Fans today **** me off writing guys off like they'd rather not see them fight

THank you, being saying this forever, even b4 he started to train with him when the rumors started... You can clearly see a different Cotto now, and I think it's not a better 1, but hey, what do we know?!?!?!? Maybe we should ask Kermit C, I'm pretty sure he's a live example of Steward-Cotto's situation.... the guy came a second time against Marg. doing exactly the same as in his previous failed attempt, only worse... and Steward didn't do a damn thing to change ANYTHING! Don't let's mention J. Taylor! Cotto stays with Steward = Cotto retiring after Marg.... and no, it's not that difficult to beat Marg... Cotto must DEFINITELY need to know how to clinch and take Margo out of rythm!! Just my opinion.

I think Cotto's problem is lack of heart. Not in the traditional sense because he'll stay in there until the fights over, but once the other guy starts fighting back and bullying him he starts caving and basically becomes a punching bag.
