Cotto punched non stop for most of a round and won the championship rounds while boxing ( not running ) to compensate for fighting with one eye.

Why are people still bringing up the stamina and chin issues?

Cotto got clocked by right hands numerous times in the blinded eye and
he wasn't even stunned...ate a few uppercuts as well.

None of that occurred before the cut....the only thing that changed was
    his approach with more movement.

Also, many are calling for the head of his trainer....

Cotto didn't lose the fight....his corner remained calm and focused.

Cap, I actually was surprised that Cotto, in my opinion, showed he had more stamina than Clottey, considering the bad cut in the third round. I thought Cotto fought like a warrior and under the circumstances, he did good and behaved like a fighter. However, for future fights, I really hope he can get with someone to work on his defense. His offense more or less was his defense against Clottey and he had his best moments when he was going after him. I say that for his own good in terms of longetivity... its not good that he eats so many punches.

Improved but far from great. He took his foot off the gas in 7-10 and let Clottey back in the fight.

cotto does seem to tire late in fights. People just used to use the excuse that he was cutting down to 140. Now they will use the excuse that he boxes and moves more. But whatever the case, he still kicks ass :good not every fighter is built for 12 heavy rounds. Cotto's frame and power puncher mentality will always give him stamina problems late in fights.

    good post.

for me it has been his defence that i think was his weakness. bending over left him very open for the uppercut and the striaght. also when he rolls his shoulder his hands move in counter direction that leaves his opposite side completely open....i.e. the right hand clocking miguel last night was due to him pulling out and not rolling the shoulder.

also his boxing stance is too square on which i think doesnt give you enough wollop on the right cross.

against corley, clottey, torres, judah, mosley when he was caught with a hard shot to me it didnt seem like a chin issue it was how he couldnt get out the way of the punch if/when he was getting hummered. he leaves his chin with his block that means that if you go thru that guard.

anyways it's only theory's and speculation. how can i cemently proove that i dont know.

Very well said, its just sad that there are people out there who will look for anything to negate a good performance by certain fighters.

don't really think it's for use to critisise his stance, if Cotto was too square on he'd know he was too square on. He does take too many punches, but with the right coaching he can overcome that. He has good reflexes and can take a punch, but has trouble defending himself when he is tired.

B/c if Margarito was in that ring Saturday night Cotto would have gotten stopped again.

i dont thinks so. With loaded gloves he TKO's him. Without them he probobly wins a decision. Margaritos style is all wrong for cotto.

Cotto's stamina "issues" have always been overblown by his haters. Since he moved up to 147, his stamina has been just fine. Same with his chin, really.

I'm not sure it was even improved.

Cotto always seems to fade around the 7th round, and usually gets a 2nd wind for the championship rounds.

Against Mosley, Margo, and Clottey, he most certainly began noticeably fading around the 7th round. It always happens.
