Cotto wants to fight inside and try to bully Mayweather.

Wrong tactics because his only chance was that jab and body shots.Mayweather's the best inside figther in boxing and Cotto won't last 6 rounds fighting on the inside.

As far as I can judge there is'nt a strategy Cotto is capable of employing that can beat Mayweather.

His best bet however is to employ a seek and destroy pressure type of fight and hope to get lucky early and do some hurting to the body of Mayweather.

That strategy however against Mayweather carries with it alot of risk.
Mayweather is exceptional on defense at any range, and against Cotto I see Mayweather timing Cotto coming in and hurting him with single shots.

Its going to be an easy nights work for Mayweather!

Seen him training,he concentrates on the inside game 90% of the time and he and his trainer are lying to each other. He tries to use his shoulders to push his opponent and keep him from moving, this wont work and I see a 6th round knockout by Mayweather.

I doubt his camp is relying on one singular mode of attack. They only show us what they want to show us, and from what I see, pressure isn't his only resource, but turning on angles and planning to walk Floyd into shots as he assumes the role of the aggressor, which is smart.

From what I've read and the videos I've watched, I think Cotto is going to occupy ring center and let Mayweather come to him. Cotto will then launch combinations before Floyd starts throwing. These combination punches will be aimed at Floyds chest with the hopes that they will negate Floyds speed and screw up his balance (these punches will not be aimed at the head but at the chest - to make sure they hit Floyd). If Floyds head becomes available, Cotto will take the opportunity - same with the body. If Floyd starts backing up, Cotto will swarm him with combinations (Floyd no longer has the footwork to enable him to fight well going backwards).

Cotto, in effect, will employ the strategy Castillo used against Mayweather during the second fight, but will do so with a lot more training and discipline. Mayweather will not be as effective against Cotto as he was castillo because his footwork (fighting moving back) and his ability to throw combinations have faded.

Conditioning drills revealed this??? I am almost 100% sure Diaz wants the fight in the center of the ring utilizing movement and angles to walk Floyd into the shots. I seriously doubt the game plan will be a one dimensional inside game.

As the above states, 95% of what we have seen come out of the Cotto training camp is ^^.

As Bogo pointed out, we have seen snippets of lateral movement and pivoting, which doesn't really suggest an inside gameplan.

What I have seen come out that I would like to see Cotto employ in the bout, is punching on the move. It looks like they are planning on hitting Mayweather (wherever they can) as he goes back in straight lines, and cutting the ring off as Mayweather tries to get off on an angle. Will be good to see how Mayweather reacts to this, and also how long Cotto will employ this tactic as he is being hit with clean shots.

I agree with your comments about "Punching on the move" - it's a skill so few fighters care to develop. The two best I ever saw do it were Kostya Tzu and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr - if you tried to quickly go backwards or sideways on these guys without employing stable footwork they would eventually swarm you and bang you down.

Also, I expect that Cotto is training with the expectation of being hit during every exchange - and with delivering punishment of his own in return. It will probably be a "Bang-4-Bang" pissing contest until someone's will breaks down.

Cotto has been to the land of "Blood-and-Suffering" and has emerged complete. I think he's going to try to give Mayweather a tour of this land in order to find out just how bad he wants to be the 154# Champ.
