I totally disagree. I agree with what you said Cotto's game plan is but I disagree with you said Floyd no longer has the footwork to fight going backwards. That is flat out wrong.

1st off its not footwork. It would be legs. You dont lose your footwork. Floyd's footwork is perfect. You can argue he doesnt have the legs to move anymore but its not footwork.

Now, I disagree with him not having the legs to fight going backwards. Again, just 3 fights ago he moved a ton against JMM. Even 2 fights ago against Mosley while fighting coming forward, he was still very light on his feet.

Not as much so against Ortiz but you cant 100% say that was because of his legs. He might just felt this was the best way to fight Ortiz. Cotto is a different type of fighter so I could see him being aggressive while still being very light & fluid on his feet like he was against Mosley.

No one is going to convince me that one of the greatest pure boxers & movers of all time can all of assudden not fight going backwards. Floyd fights that way his whole career and people say he's running. Now he's trading & coming forward and people say his legs are gone and he cant fight going backwards.

I even saw alot of people use to say that he cant fight coming forward and isnt a good Offensive fighter. The fact is he can do it all and doesnt really have a weakness. I believe that bullying him & being aggressive is still the best way to fight him but it doesnt have to do with him not having the footwork or the ability to fight going backwards. Its moreso to do with him just being a smaller guy and this is your best chance because you wont outbox him

I wouldn't say it's his strategy, but I think he'll be forced to fight inside. Everyone ends up playing the role of aggressor against Mayweather. Cotto(e) lacks discipline and always has been one that can be lured into fighting instead of boxing. Cotto(e) has been baited before by fighters like margarito(e) and emmanuel. On May 5th, he'll be in with the smartest prizefighter of our era, someone who specializes in making people do what they don't want to do.

Floyd did quite a bit of inside fighting when sparring Omar. I believe he expects to be in there with Cotto(e) during the fight. His fight with Cotto(e)'s friend Bruseles featured plenty of infighting.

Floyd has it made it known he doesn't want to give ground in this fight. Cotto(e) being Cotto(e) will "fight". These are ingredients for an inside fight.

It would be interesting to see Cotto force Mayweather to box on the front-foot and for Cotto himself to dance away and jab. Almost play him at his own game and fight on the outside...it'd be difficult to employ, and I'm sure the crowd wouldn't be happy, but I can't see a strategy wherein Cotto utilises a natural size and weight advantage in order to bully Mayweather being successful. I suspect that's probably what Floyd would like best; it's never come close to working in the past with previous Mayweather opponents.

That you should use the JMM fight as an example amuses me. I mean, JMM had only 5 months to jump 2 weight divisions and, as a result, he was fat and slow when he fought Mayweather - not even a shade of what he was when JMM took a year to gain weight and condition before the fight against Pacquiao - including a tune-up fight. And Floyd still couldn't make his contractually-obligated catch weight. Of course Floyd could move well in this fight compared to JMM! That fight was a disgrace to boxing.

No...what I'm saying is that Mayweather has terrible footwork when he moves backwards. Did you watch the Hatton fight where Mayweather picked an English Dwarf to beat on instead of a Mexican Dwarf (JMM). Nevertheless, Hatton has him moving back for 10 rounds and Floyd looked horibble doing it - the guy just can't fight going backwards. Had it not been for Hatton rushing Mayweather after he had went to a corner and got set, that fight might have gone all the way to the end. But...Hatton was a weak-punching Dwarf so he would have still lost had the fight gone 12 rounds. Nevertheless, how does Mayweather let a Hatton rush him like that for 10 rounds - and Hatton doesn't even have a Jab!? Where is the Greatness? Where was the footwork that would have allowed Mayweather to quickly get set on the hop and launch a right straight into Hatton's face and KO him?

This Cotto won't be some midget like a Hatton or JMM. Cotto won't be a quitter like a Zab Judah or Shane Mosley. Cotto won't be a up to his eyeballs in cocaine and Russian Hookers like De La Hoya. And he certainly will not have a psychotic break during the fight, try to kiss Mayweather and then get sucker punched as did Victor Ortiz. No...None of that. When Mayweather hits Cotto it's not going to make Cotto want to quit - it's going to **** him off. And unlike those other fighters - Cotto will keep hitting back!

Mayweather had better get ready for War.

Yeah...his footwork sure looked great when he fought Ricky Hatton, huh? He let that midget Hatton run him down for 10 rounds before it ended. This is Great Footwork?

Oh Gawd! I just noticed that you are a Naseem Hamed Fanboy! Great fighter Naseem was, huh?

I like divacs strategy.. thats the only way you gonna beat may...

Pressure, body work, size, power.... fighters need to use this strategy till one is able to win...

I can't see cotto doing it, he doesn't really have size on his side, but I hope he can apply smart pressure and have some success don't wanna see a schooling...

Ortiz had a great chance and he had his moments but he wasn't experienced enough, he needs to have heart, and passion, **** being friends, u head butt **** it move on... your there to fight not hug and kiss. He was smart in making it a dog fight, but stupid in apologizing... you need a hard mother****er in there who doesn't respect you.

Canelo IMO has all the tools, he just needs more experience. He has size, power combos and is a body puncher... and applies smart pressure with beautiful combos... I can't wait for Canelo to get his chance 2013.
