Could 42 year old Holmes have enough to beat McCall?

Holmes was 42, almost 43 when he beat Mercer. I was watching the Holmes vs Oliver McCall fight and if Holmes was a couple years younger, could he have pulled off the win? Two or 3 years make a big difference between 42 and 45 when it comes to boxing.

I can well imagine Holmes beating McCall if he'd been as he was in the Mercer bout.

Yes, there’s a big difference between 32 and 35, so the difference between 42 and 45 will be even greater since you decline faster as you get older.

Well considering Holmes only lost by 1 point on two of the judges scorecards I don't see why not.

Absolutely, it was extremely close as it was. Why wouldn't a younger, slightly fresher version of Holmes do that much better?
