Could 50-year old Hopkins survive Marciano?

Yes I think he could linger and do what he could to avoid engaging Marciano in any meaningful way if " surviving" were the only goal. But he wouldn't get any work done and probably have the crowd booing the affair before long.

 

Who are the people Marciano fought, who were not well past their best.

A peak Hopkins would outwork and outbox him and win almost every round.

What exactly was a peak Hopkins? Him at 160, 175? At 28 years old? or 42?

Exactly who ever "outworked" Marciano?

Exactly how much better of a boxer was Hopkins (any version) than even an old Charles or Moore or Walcott (who happened to be heavyweight champ at the time)?

 

No, Marciano would grind him down and stop him (probably via feigned injury). Hopkins wouldn't have survived against Kovalev if Kovalev fought with Marciano's single-minded aggression. Kovalev seemed content with scoring points while staying completely safe and avoiding Hopkins' bag of tricks.

 

A simple "no" or maybe even a "hell no" is the only necessary response to your post.

 

If you took Marciano s name out of this contribution and replaced it with Hopkins you would be correct.

Hopkins has 0 KO's at 175. ZERO. And against nothing special comp at 175. He has NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING to make Marciano respect him. Or have I missed something?

 

No, you haven't missed a thing. This modern day revisionism bull **** has gotten WAY out of hand here....Marciano would have been relentless...battering anything he could hit of Hopkins...finally crushing him in 9 or 10.

 

For all the times I pick against the Rock this isn't one of them, I think Rocky would grind down and stop Hop, no offense, Hop isn't in Rockys weight class anyways.

Marciano just didn't let up and Hopkins, even if you are his biggest fan, will admit that he didnt have a high work rate.
Ezzard Charles, arguably the greatest light ever, won the first 5 or 6 rounds, stunned Rocky a few times and looked set to take his title.......then he took a punch to the throat and gradually Marciano took control.
At the end the Cobra was holding on but the crowd applauding him like they'd seldom done when he'd won.
I don't see Hopkins setting the pace that Charles did and I couldn't see Hopkins getting past 10.
Marciano may not be one of the 10 best heavies ever but there's nobody at 188 or less living with him
Charles and Moore were both past their best but both were better than Hopkins
