Holmes sees the final bell. Even at that age he would outjab Bowe whilst landing nothing really significant. Loses 116-112 on all cards.
I saw what Tubbs was able to do with Bowe a year earlier. Of course Bowe got better in '92 but Holmes could definitely survive after surprising Bowe with some good movement. But the fans might turn on Holmes if he plays it too safe. But we know Holmes would never do that... Bowe might and could get Holmes out of there. If not, scores of 118-110 or 10 rounds to 2 would be sufficient. Interesting fight, no doubt. Would've loved to see Bowe go up against an aged Witherspoon, Truth Williams, Bruno and Tucker as well. The 80's retreads who had some success in the 90's.
If Bowe came into the ring in the Holyfield 1 shape I doubt it .. He was very strong and an excellent body puncher and that would make it hard for Holmes to just fight off the ropes ... that said Larry was big, tough , very smart and still could fight .. Bowe was not hard to hit and Larry might set him up and tire him out and trap him .... I'd say of course you have to go with Bowe ..
Bowe was absolutr prime. He wouldn't have to look for Larry who could no longer glide around the ring. Bowe would be busier sharper and hit considerably harder than Holmes. Bowe would probably win 8 or 9 rounds. I think Holmes is cagey enough to survive although we know he dropped that left hand and invited a right hand. Bowe had a very good one. Sure prime for prime I'd favor Holmes but Bowe is a lot better than McCall and Mercer who even a past it Holmes could outbox. Bowe WUD12 or late tko.
I think he survives. No one says you have to fight Bowe the same way Holyfield did. Come to think of it we never saw Bowe in with an elite mover, or a power puncher
