Could a peak Aaron Pryor have done better v Spence than Garcia did?

I am not sure he is overrated but, had there been boxing message boards when Curry beat McCrory I cannot imagine all the how great Donald Curry is threads.

No disagreements about Duran's quality in that fight and maybe he would, but I don't think Leonard's technical and tactical level in the fight is that good. Well, the tactical level is almost non-existent. He's brave, strong and fast, but in terms of pro poise he's well below what you'd expect of him. I don't attribute that solely to Duran.

Pryor would bring some things to the table that Garcia didn't. He was quicker, more dynamic and unconventional. He punched from odd angles and had good power to go with it.

So yea Pryor doesn't get shut out by Spence. It would be more or less and even match up. Erroll would happy be to last the distance. A guy l Pryor doesn't stop to regroup just because he got hit. He hits you back twice before you can blink.

A good possibility but he is still a fine fighter. He seems to be getting the most out of his ability and we gotta see how his career plays out.

I think most of this only works in hindsight tbh. Whether one subscribes to Leonard fighting the wrong fight (i do) or not doesn't matter - Leonard genuinely thought he was going to get over him toe to toe. He was natural welterweight with very very good power and Duran had jumped up from lightweight after spending an eternity there. Leonard was naturally bigger by some way.

I reckon Leonard thought he would wear him down or put him down at some point and imo he invested in this once he got back into the fight a bit. He threw some wild punches with bad intentions and i reckon it was because he thought they might pay dividends if he could land them. We now know much much different. Besides Duran getting into his head i can see why he may have thought he'd get home in a war - at that time.

Agree with this. Lets see how he pans out - he hasn't had that many fights and has some improvement in him.

That same Duran took 10 out of 10 from Palomino. Not a great Welterweight but maybe half a notch below. The domination he got should have been a clue to what was coming for Leonard.

Yes true but Leonard himself still thought he'd get home imo. Lets remember Duran had won the mind games and had him exactly where he wanted him. Duran himself knew this sort of battle would play into his hands and full marks to his insight, knowledge and confidence.

Leonard never let ego or emotion get in his way again. It was a fantastic lesson Duran handed out - one Ray would take full advantage of in the future.

A simple question, Was Spence in the ring with Roberto Duran?

Habits are hard to break especially when under serious fire from the opponent. If Spence was facing a great fighter instead of a small good fighter like Garcia, That habit would've gotten him knocked out.

Well Pryor is superior to Garcia in every department and is naturally bigger so yeah I think he'd do a bit better.

I am pretty sure that it was a specific part of the fight plan for that fight.

Sure I did, and Your comparing a ATG that had a ATG performance the night he fought Leonard in Montreal and making it seems as if he had nothing to do with Leonard's performance. Sure Spence looked great,,,,,,, But against Mikey Garcia . Their is no way those two fights can be compared in my opinion. If Spence was in the ring against Duran in Montreal he wouldn't have seen the 5th rd. The level of skill is that wide between Leonard and Spence.
