Could a prime gerry cooney actually stop bowe of the golata fts? Golata was out punching big daddy in both fights and was looking to head for a points win. Unfortunately both times kicked out for low blows. Bowe has a pretty decent chin, only been dropped by holy field and golata so could a prime cooney do this. Or did cooney only ko old and past it heavy s. Or would even that bowe defeat Jerry???
Bowe took so much punishment vs Golota and survived I can't imagine Cooney inflicting any more than Golota did so I'll say no. Golota was giving him a savage beating!!!!
Bowe seemed to go to pieces pretty quickly. From losing to evender up to meeting golata he had looked ok. Apart from the third holy field ft where he was knocked down and on bambi legs, he showed no signs of the trauma to come. Cant remember the odds going in to golata 1but sure riddick was a big favourite. That s why all the more surprising what happened.
You know what really destroyed Bowe? Gaining tons of weight and then losing it really quick. According to neurologist when you do that you lose fluid around your brain. Which is why his career was so short. So the answer is Cooney wouldn't have did as well as Golota did because Cooney couldn't take a punch a quite as well as Golota. Golota didn't have the best of chins but I doubt a blown up light heavyweight like Spinks could stop Golota.
Yes hercs, that's what causes a heck of a lot of damage, the quick weight loss. I think that may even have contributed to Roy Jones. Soon as he came down from heavy that was it. His career was never the same.
Golota was way better than cooney, no way cooney lands as much like golota. Even shot bowe smashes cooney no problem
