Could a ''prime'' Mike Tyson truly beat the Buster Douglas of February 11th 1990?

It is not reverse of the facts to assume the man who won would win again.

Of course I can't be certain and not every rematch goes the same way, but I don't see Tyson beating Douglas that night.

None of the fighters he beat were better than the Douglas of Feb 11th 1990.

And Tyson was NOWHERE near stopping Douglas; if you compare Tyson's knockdown of Douglas to Douglas's knockout of Tyson, you'll see that Tyson once knocked out was sluggish and out of it. Douglas was fine.

As soon as he got up, the bell rang.

I've actually said that this part of your argument is intact.
WHy are you brandishing this part of your argument that has been accepted, instead of the parts that have been shown to fail?

All your arguments here indicate a man whose mind is made up and who wont accept any opinion to the contrary....what the hell do u base douglas being a great jabber on ? One night against tyson when kirk douglas would have outjabbed tyson?

Clearly u never saw holyfield counter douglas"s great jab with one right hand to end the fight and thats what would have happened with tyson from 86-88

Tyson fought holmes, pinklon thomas, bruno and tyrell biggs to name a few who had great or very good jabs.carl williams had a decent jab.....in fact douglas"s jab over the course of his career was no better than any of those guys.

    Quit the blind douglas fanboyism

They would have all beaten the Tyson of Feb 11th 1990. Isn't it odd that Douglas never looked anywhere near that good in his other 45 bouts. Tyson was so awful that night and had been so dominant up til then that it just made the guy who beat him look like Superman.

And Douglas was down for a 9 count. That's pretty close.

My argument does not and cannot fail.

I said Mike could win but I doubt that he would win.

There is literally no logical argument against me.

So? Tyson was the undisputed champion and Douglas whooped him.

The Douglas who fought Tyson was very different to the Douglas before and after.

Did you actually watch the knockdown? Douglas got up, he looked at the referee absolutely fine. He was up and steady. In the next round, he had MORE energy.

Tyson did NOT hurt him. By contrast, Douglas really did hurt Tyson. He knocked the gum-shield from his mouth and had him staggering.

Did you watch the knockdown? At what number was he on his feet? He was quite fortunate the bell rang when it did.

The Buster Douglas who fought Mike Tyson was a lean 230lbs. The Buster Douglas who fought Evander Holyfield was 246lbs.

The Holyfield fight was in the SAME year as the Tyson fight and yet Douglas was 15lbs overweight. By your logic, the Mike Tyson who fought Douglas at 221lbs was peak.

Quit the Tyson fanboyism and hypocrisy. You assert that 23 year old Mike Tyson wasn't his prime against Douglas yet the Douglas who fought Tyson was somehow the same as the one who fought Holyfield.

Tyson fought an old and out of shape Holmes. Not a prime Holmes (who would have beat Mike soundly). The Douglas who fought Tyson was a very different fighter to the one who fought others. In the Tucker fight Douglas gassed out, but in the Tyson fight, he didn't gass out at all. He was throwing bombs in the late rounds and wouldn't stop combinations.

Douglas got up at 9, looked at the referee, and continued. In the next round, he was completely fine. He wasn't hurt all.

Tyson was visibly hurt; he got his head shattered from the uppercut, couldn't find his gumshield and could barely stand up.

    Two very different knockdowns.
