Could a ''prime'' Mike Tyson truly beat the Buster Douglas of February 11th 1990?

The argument is whether Douglas was hurt, not whether he was more hurt than Tyson. That's a red herring and I don't know why you keep bringing it up.

Douglas just barely scrambled to his feet at 9, arms by his sides, visibly wobbly. To say he wasn't hurt at all is absurd. He was clearly hurt. He didn't continue, because the bell rang instantly.

Exactly. It looked like he wanted out to me. He got up at 9 1/2 and had that saddened look in his eyes. If the bell didn't ring to end the round it could've, could've been a different story. Douglas could've been Tyson's Conn.

Dude, of course Douglas was hurt otherwise he wouldn't have stayed down till nine and taking the risk of the referee ending the fight. Look at the Malik Scott - Chisora fight. Scott stayed down till nine and the ref waved it off.

Tucker had a good jab too. Watch Douglas V. Tucker. Douglas's jab and Tucker's jab were fairly even in that fight.

Tyson slipped Tucker's jab and even outjabbed him quite a bit, even though he was about 7 inches shorter than Tucker. There was a big degradation in the level of Tyson's defense from the Tucker fight to the Douglas fight.

So you think Haye would beat Spinks but a readied Tyson cant beat Douglas who is not better than Tucker or Ruddock,or even 38 year old Holmes at any time?Makes perfect sense.:-(

to be fair, something else clicked behind those eyes too that night.

It was as if he had woke up from one of those weird eviscerating dreams which reset your thoughts and minds and that you get only once a year, and makes you feel like you can do no wrong. I think the knockdown feeling was just reality trying to knock back in.

wow its weird shyte, just reading bits here I am getting flashbacks of that fight from 2 and half decades ago.

when the world was young and we felt invincible, that feeling just came back to me hehe. And a time when we were emotionally stunted kids too - I don't recall feeling anything when DOuglas mentioned his mother back then, but now just reading about his mom makes me cry. How much we've changed since then...

Lol, Douglas that night is treated like a mythical beast... "Tokyo Douglas", they should create a comic with a showdown between him and Hulk or something.

Are you brain dead?? He was on his feet before the count of 10, that's why the referee didn't stop the fight.

You live in cloud cuckoo land, Douglas didn't get up visibly wobbly at all.
