Could a ''prime'' Mike Tyson truly beat the Buster Douglas of February 11th 1990?

I think going by your usernames, you two guys weren't even around when Douglas and Tyson were in their primes. Most of us were watching their fights live at the time. We were reading about the game and watching their fights. I think that gives us a pretty good ability to ****yze the era. We are not just looking at youtube and boxrec.

Buster proved to be a one hit wonder, in the right place at the right time. The Tyson fight turned out to be his only real good fight and had Holyfield been in the ring that night he may have been more impressive against Tyson, so I think Tyson of the Spinks fight would have taken Buster out before the 10th but Tyson's vulnerabilities were not exposed until he started fighting guys who believed they could win. Spinks was not one of them

What the fcuk as that got to do with the price of bacon? I watched the Douglas fight as a youngster at the time it happened. I've probably seen Tyson's fights more than you have. I very much doubt you were an inside figure in Tyson's camp so your opinion is as good as mine seeing as you watched his fights on TV.

Ok. Go on youtube and watch Tyson from 1986-1988 and tell me his defense wasn't significantly better than the night he stepped in with Douglas. Watch him outjab the 6'5 Tucker while also constantly slipping Tucker's jab. Watch him bob and weave in an effort to get underneath his reach and throw hard punches inside that reach.

Any of us who followed his career and watched each and every one of his championship fights live, watched with eyebrows raised as he constantly got in trouble outside the ring, shook our heads when he dumped his trainer and fell hook line and sinker as Don King whispered in his ear - know that the Tyson who faced Douglas was not the prime fighting machine he was a few years earlier. You have to have followed the whole scene at the time to truly understand the big picture of what transpired.

I don't need to go on YouTube, I have all his fights on tape as well as plenty of his amateur bouts. Tell me where do you watch his fights.....

I could say that about any fighter who was unbeaten at the time, go watch him beat so and so.... What does that prove? Nothing.... Fact is Tyson at 23 was beaten by the better fighter on the night, no if's or but's.

Constantly got in trouble? He got into a fist fight and crashed his car wow fcuking wee... So now it's the sacking of Rooney is it? Funny how Tyson looked his devastating best the fight prior to Douglas, guess what?? Without Kevin Rooney....

Well if you're gonna let tyson have better preparation you should also let Douglas gave better preparation.

In a rematch Douglas would have been grossly out of shape so tyson likely would steamroll him.
