Nothing basic about Ali's footwork , coordination and balance dough. It was some of the best throughout a 100years of HW boxing.
Bellew had better footwork than Haye. We all saw that twice :squezer:

Sure, but again, I don't think Wlad would have had the confidence.

Ali was past prime when he fought Bugner the first time, and pretty much done in the rematch.

Bombers ring IQ was just too high for David Haye. You don't hook with a hooker and Tony made him do it in back to back fights

Yes he could. Ali had trouble with jabbers / good boxers at ALL stages of his career. Doug Jones, Kenny Norton, Ron Lyle, Jimmy Young, and Larry Holmes.

Haye was prime. Look at his two previous fights where he blew those two contenders into oblivion. Bellew to use the step back pull counter and any Haye is gone within 10 round.

Canelo is a better power puncher than Toney ever was. Toney would never have been able to generate the kind of power and land the kind of uppercuts that Canelo landed on GGG. Toney was slippery and was a technician in there, but Toney at Middleweight would have had big problems with Canelo.

Toney would try to slip Canelo's punches, but Canelo could time Toney and dig in some thudding body shots when Toney was doing his usual evasion maneuvers. If Canelo timed it right Toney may go down from a body shot. Toney would find ways to frustrate Canelo though and bait him into being over-aggressive. It would be a fascinating matchup stlyistically, but I think that Toney would have an easier time with GGG than he would with Canelo because GGG is easier to hit. Canelo would make Toney think more and it would be more of a chess match, whereas GGG would just try to overwhelm Toney, which kind of plays to Toney's strengths.

Stopped reading after "Canelo could time Toney".

You could out maneuver Toney like Nunn did for much of their fight as Toney liked to be rooting and have guys come to him and you could out speed Toney like RJJ did, you could even out work Toney when he was lazy but "time" Toney I don't think so. Toney's reflexes and defence were simply on another level to Canelo's.

I've often compared Canelo at times to Toney but Canelo has done nothing to suggest he out the could beat Toney at his own game. Toney beat McCallum and KO'ed Nunn, while Canelo struggled to beat Trout and Lara.

Maybe Canelo can pull of Griffin but I doubt it. Griffin set a work rate in both fights that would have Canelo have a stroke by round 8 and he couldn't do what Griffin did on the inside and doubt he could take away Toney's right hand by sacrificing his own right hand like Griffin did in the 2nd fight.
