hypothetically could shane mosely of the late 90s (who was a lightweight) destroy hatton as brutally as pacquioe did earlier this year, i think shanes power wasnt as sharp in his earlier years at lightweight as it was when he moved up to 147, if mosely fought hatton i honestly think it would be a tough fight and could end up going to the cards, i'v recently watched many of mosely fights at 135 and it took him time to breakdown his opponet and he'd stop many of them in the mid-late rounds, i also noticed how strong he was i think he relied way to much on his physical ability earlier in his career, he had an excellent double jab but more often then not he'd abandon this and load up on power shots instead

Of course he could. It might be even worse. Shane was a beast at 135.

I personally feel from the footage I've watched (most of it) that Shane really peaked at Welter. Whilst very good at Lightweight, I see nothing there that really makes me go 'wow', I feel he got better as he moved up. It was like a prospect cleaning out a fairly average division really. Stick that Shane in with the top lightweights and he doesn't look as spectacular I reckon.

However; if the Shane that moves up to Welter gets grabbed and forced into a time machine, and can make 140 easily, he beats the **** outta' Hatton. Don't know if he 'Pacs' him, but to be honest if we're putting in the Hatton that fought Tszyu, Shane is going to be met with a degree of resilience and fighting spirit. Shane probably stops him between 5-8, difference between Hatton fighting Tszyu and fighting Shane is that this version of Shane can match him for strength. Couple that with all the other things he has that Hatton doesn't and Ricky's going down.

Personally, if we take a hypothetical Shane@140 I'd pick him to beat Tszyu as well.

Why discussing Mosley's power rather than Hatton's chin quality is beyond me.

Mosley could not do the same as Manny.

    He is not a southpaw.

    Possibly.

I'm not so sure Hatton was right for the Pacquiao fight though, certainly mentally - I'd bet my house on Pac taking longer than 2 rounds with the Hatton that got in with Floyd.

You'd be living in a bus shelter then. No way is any version of Hatton taking those punches and surviving, and Hatton never had the defence to stop a rapid-fire southpaw exploding onto his chin.

In answer to the TS, yes I believe Mosley would have knocked Hatton out. Not as quickly as Pacquiao did because Shane was a more orthodox fighter, but he would have arrived at the same result eventually.

Are we talking about the '05 version of Hatton that fought Tszyu or the '09 version that fought Pacquiao here then? If it's the '09 version, Shane would absolutely murder him. If it's the '05 version, he'd still knock Hatton out but might take a while longer to set it up. But then again, so would Pacquiao if he fought that version.

Yes. Hatton was not in Mosely's league.
